Hello fellow canucks... .

Just letting you know that our I-130 was approved today out of the CSC! Wow. What a shocker. Exactly 3 months to the date that it was received. So, now we're en route for NVC processing and stuff.

Any helpful hints and stuff you have, lay 'em on us. I'll probably be asking my usual plethora of questions.

Just wanted to let you know. I'm really super excited.

:)

Hey that's great lgg - congratulations!

I'm sure you already have all your documents (for your I-864 and DS-230)

Awesome!! Congratulations!!

The best advice I have to offer is to do as much as you can to prepare NOW while you're waiting for NVC to receive your file. For example, if you don't have your long form birth certificate yet, you should order it immediately. It doesn't take that long to get (at least for Ontario birth certificates), but it's best to get that out of the way as soon as you can. Also, get your police certificate immediately. Make sure it specifically says that they checked CPIC or the NPR. I got mine from Commissionaires and it was pretty painless (once the guy who runs the checks was actually in the office, that is!) If your husband doesn't have everything ready for the I-864 submission, it's best to start working on that now (acquiring tax transcripts, employment letter, pay stubs, or whatever else you plan to send in.) I would also recommend filling out the DS-230 now and checking it for accuracy a whole bunch of times. That's all I can think of right now.

Thanks all.

Seriously did NOT think it would be this short. Am prepared mostly but still need my police record which I'll get in the next few days. I'm going to go through Commissionaires as well, seems the best way. I have all the forms at home in 'Dry Run' format just to ensure accuracy.

But holy! This approval snuck up on me, I hadn't thought it would come so quick -- it freaked all the knowledge out of me and now I feel like I'm floundering like a noob again!

I have my long form BC, I only got one copy though, I hope that's okay... I'll have to send it to them -- Should have got two. I'm originally from BC and it took only about 6 days to get so, it was no problem

Thanks a lot Trailmix too... I'll have a lot of questions I'm sure so please don't get too annoyed -- I'll pass on all the good info to all the other neophytes out there.

Thanks guys.

You rock...

:D

That's some great advice everyone has for you! Just make sure that you make photocopies of everything you send in - especially the originals. Also, when you make payments for the fees, print out receipts and keep those handy. You may need them for proof of payment in case they can't find it or their system says eitherwise. Other than that, good luck! Everyone on the forum has great advice.

Congratulations!!!!

If you're talking about originals and such for the interview part, I had the original death certificate, and my long form birth certificate, and they just made certified copies at the consulate and gave me back the originals. This was Vancouver, however, and I'm k-1 so I'm really not sure if that's different or not... just trying to save you a step or two.

Best wishes for a speedy and painless end to your journey!! 3 months is quick! Ours was 3.5 and a couple months till the interview. 6 months. I can handle that... :D
