"can't we all just be humans?"

"Hi, my name is Bobby, I am a Human, from planet Earth, nice to meet you!"

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

Great. I've got the Guvanator nipping at my heels too. Maybe it's time to put in a call to Sarah.

Interesting article, thank you for posting it.

Is anyone familiar with the Genographic Project? I participated in that a few years ago to determine my specific DNA haplotype. It is a fascinating study and in many ways supports the general direction of this article - that there were 3 major migratory 'waves' as well as a number of minor ones. The quoted article here is very general - there are more specifics available at the Genographic Project website:

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

The reality is that from a genetic point of view, we are all the same. Our differences really are visual.

Poppycock! The genetic differences are huge. You can identify a person's race from a blood sample.

Here's one example of a genetic difference I was able to google in 5 seconds.

Gotta love those Affimetrix Chips. They used to cost $800/run.

FYI... if we are roughly 99.8% genetically identical to our closest relative species, chimps... imagine what that makes us to other ** sapiens. Sure... there's enough variety even at that 0.2% heterogeneity, and its likely still present in what is a lower figure for intra-species variability for us...

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

I remember a television show that said the reason for our lack of genetic diversity is because of a genetic "choke point" about 25 thousand years ago. Some dramatic event almost wiped us all out (I forget what it was) and we went down to a few thousand people. Everyone alive today is descended from those survivors.

Or, if you prefer, we could say this is proof that we are all descended from Adam and Eve about 6000 years ago. :P
