My wife and I are working on filing her I-485. We were thinking we should probably fill out the I-131 form, but we have no decided when we'd like to go back and visit Scotland. Should we file this now? --- Will there be a fee if we decide to file it later?

Thanks.

Jonathan

File now, its free when submitted with the I-485. If you file later you will have to pay the application fee for the I-131 (I don't recall how much, you can check at the USCIS website).

Also, we didn't list any travel date or plans with the I-131. I think we made a 1-2 sentence statement about my hubby's mom being ill andwanting the ability to travel in case of emergency while the AOS was pending.

Should we file this now? May as well, yes. --- Will there be a fee if we decide to file it later? No

If there is a chance you guys will want to travel outside the US before the PR/Green Card is approved you should go ahead and submit the AP/I-131. If you do not know or have specific travel plans/dates then you could simply enter "To be determined" or "Summer/Fall 2009" or something similar.
