My fiancee Thanh went to the Consulate today (June 23rd). This was the date specified on the blue slip she received for the Timeline when she interviewed on May 28. I gave the Consulate a new timeline on June 2nd, but I don't think anything happened with her case until today. She told them I had already submitted a new Timeline but that she had an updated one. They asked her to give them the latest Timeline, then she had to wait a while for her name to be called again -- I think she said it was a couple of hours.

When they called her number, she was told to come back on July 2nd to get her visa -- they kept her passport.:thumbs:

The subject of a visa entry date never came up, so I'm trying to figure out when to schedule her one-way ticket to Seattle. I know the safe bet would be to wait until she has the visa in hand before buying the ticket, but I hate to wait and miss out on an earlier date. Assuming the visa is ready on July 2nd, anyone have an idea as to what the entry date might be? I think we put something vague like "within a few weeks of visa issuance" on the DS-156.

Thanks for the advice and encouragement. This is a great forum.

Congrats!!!! Great to hear.

What entry date are you asking about? When did they tell her to come back and pick it up?

Just get her ticket and away she goes.

She may need to show the visa to buy the ticket. That sometimes happens.

She was told to come back on July 2nd to get her visa. I've been told that the Consulate typically sets the visa US entry date to be the same as the day the visa is picked up. In other words, once she gets the visa in hand she can immediately leave for the US.

BTW, I made a mistake in my first post. She actually got pink on June 25th, not the 23rd. She already got called back to the Consulate today (June 26) because they only have her certified translation of her justice record -- I think they mistakenly returned her original yesterday........so I won't fully celebrate until she has the visa in her hands.

I will probably buy the ticket thru a travel agent in HCMC; one I've dealt with several times. A one-way ticket originating out of HCMC typically costs more if purchased thru the local Seattle travel agent. I could buy it on the airline website, but Thanh would have to present my credit card at the ticket counter at check-in.

I want her to come to Seattle on July 3rd, but Thanh said she may need a few more days -- so I may need to be a bit more patient.
