PS.

For choice of agent, I would be putting down my husband (the petitioner) as my agent, is this correct?

Thanks a lot...

Just going over all my information to see what I am confused about and what I'm not.

Thanks all...

They will talk to either the petitioner or the beneficiary. When you call you'll have to confirm both of your names and dates of birth (and the case number of course).

As soon as you have your case number, call and speak to an operator and give them both of your email addresses. They will then email you everything rather than send a hard copy. This will save you weeks.

And yes you probably should make your husband the agent, assuming he'll be the one paying the fees.

that is exactly what i was wondering. my hubby is the petitioner but i am going to be doing all the forms from Australia and sending them to him to sign as needed etc etc... and wondered if i can be the contact that the NVC speaks to if needed.

So, tngirl...

I just got approved and they sent our file from USCIS to NVC yesterday... for all this calling and stuff, can the beneficiary do it? OR will it be petitioner specific like the USCIS was?

And for the forms we need, will the send them hard copy to us or via email? This is the part now where I just started researching again (had awhile back but assumed the USCIS part would take longer) and am now feeling like a fresh noobie all over again.

Thanks man...

and your NVC part went by fast, eh? That's awesome.

Best,

Question for you....

For our I 130, we had to submit the petitioner's divorce decree. I, the beneficiary, haven't been divorced. So, in the filing for the NVC stuff, does he have to send it with the I 864 stuff? It doesn't say anything about it. But for my package as the beneficiary, it says to submit any documents for a divorce which I have had. So... in this stage of the game, do they need HIS divorce decree?

Thanks so much.

It's really weird but we never called NVC to give them our case number. They must have gotten it from the cover sheet of our packet, because one day out of the blue they emailed us choice of agent form and invoice number...

I don't think it's necessary, but I'm not sure since that didn't apply to us. The NVC stage is primarily confirming who you are and your husband's financials. It was needed at the USCIS stage to make sure that your marriage was valid, so that's already been proven. Make sure you have a copy to bring to the interview just in case though.

Again, not positive though so maybe someone else will be able to chime in.

I think you misunderstood what I meant. NVC knows your USCIS case number- you don't need to inform them of that. The only reason you would call and give it to them is when you want to use it to find out what your new NVC case number is right after it's been assigned.

hey guys, while we are all asking Qs... is there a way i can find out which processing centre my application will go to if my husband is from Kentucky?

It'll go to the Vermont Service Center... sorry. Hopefully things will pick up there though. It's well overdue.

This is true but ours was supposed to go to Vermont too but it went straight to California. Thing is, both those service centers fluctuate, one's good, one's bad and vice versa. From what I've read so...

I just know that based on where we are in the US, we should have been vermont too, so you know know, mrsemcee.

Thanks imaisha...

I'll check into that further but you're on track with what I was thinking too. I have one, I'll bring it and that'll be t hat.

THanks...

Don't worry yourself Mrsemcee...

Have you seen my spattering of the boards tonight? I'm the noobiest noob that ever noobed! In regard to the NVC process anyway.

This place is great, I have had every single question answered and answered well, it's why this place exists.

Just pass it on to the other new VJers when they come round asking a gazillion questions. .

i just hope you can all put up with my questions whilst doing so.

Hi Donna,

First I want to wish you good luck on your visa journey. When I first discovered and logged in

here, I had tons of questions too! but I assure you right after the I-130 gets approved that

is when everything starts rolling, and the petitioner will start sending everything...They

will send you notification soon letting you know they have received your petition... Basically

after the I-130 gets approved by the USCIS they send it to the National Visa Center ( NVC)

for processing. but before everything rolls we need to pay the NVC money.. Then they'll take

it from there... Once they receive all fees, and copies and taxes, DS 230 then they will

complete your case and send it to your spouse embassy. They do send notification for

everything, well in my case they just didn't send notification for my case being

completed, I had to call them again and again, until they finally told me.

I would say this is just the beginning, but everything will go smoothly for you... It's just

the wait and the anxiety of when ??

I had sent my I-130 last june 08' and it finally got approved in JAN 2009', it took a while,

but after that everything just went pretty fast and now hubby will be interviewed next month.

But then again, I have seen that it took much less for some others... everyone case is

different, but we all await to be reunited with our love one.

By the way, are you doing CR-1 or K-3 visa.. because I was a bit confused about the 2 at

first. They are similar but they are different. CR-1 is better!!!

Good luck, and God Bless!

thank you so much. you are so sweet.

you have really explained the process well.

i am doing the CR-1, i too was confused between that and the K3 but now i know what is best for us.

i am expecting to be apart from the hubby for a long while, but hoping it will be as swift as possible from my end at least. i want to make sure ahead of time i am full of information and knowledge to get things moving from my end!!

thank you so much, and good luck for the interview of your hubby!!! i bet you are so excited!!!

i will print out your comments and keep them in my big folder of info :)

Oh yes, also, my husband is the USC and i am from Australia.... but i am doing the background work on it all so we can get things moving as i am more administration based than my hubby is :)
