on a side note, does anyone know what happens once i get my case number at NVC in relation to checking up on the barcode stuff and online payments? is there a login similar to the one for USCIS? i cant seem to find info on here about it, though there are soooo many threads to look through on NVC related stuff.

This is how the invoice/bar code stuff worked for me.... I didn't have to do the choice of agent form, because we used an attorney, and he sent a G28 with the I-130, so by default, he became the agent. However, once they listed him as agent, I think the rest of the process was pretty standard.

When you get a case number, press the button on the AVR to speak with an operator. Give her your email address. In a few days, you will receive an email from the NVC that spells out your next steps. This email will provide the page for online payment which you can't access until you have both the NVC # AND an invoice number (provided in the NVC's initial email). Once you input your checking account's bank routing number & account number, they will show that your payment is "pending." Mine turned to "PAID" in 1 day, and over the weekend, which really surprised me. I thought it wouldn't clear until after the holiday. Once it is marked "PAID," you can access the "next steps," which basically tells you how to print the cover sheet (that has the bar code on it) and how to send your documents.

I saved the bar coded cover sheets (which load as pdf's) to my computer as well, just in case.

It sounds way more complicated than it is.

thanks Julie, so does that mean i will get two emails from NVC? one with the instructions (and my NVC case id??) on how to do the next steps and a seperate one showing my Invoice number?

orrr do i just get the Invoice number in the one email?

the rest sounds like a breeezee (hehe)

i hope!

My case may be different because we used an attorney. But I never got an email or snail mailed letter from the NVC with the case number. I had to call & get it using the AVR. Once I had that, I got the operator and she entered my email address into the system.

The only email I received was a sort of "welcome and here's what will happen" letter with the invoices attached. I used the invoice # from the invoices to log into the payment page.

It was only after the invoices changed to "PAID" that I could access the "further instructions" stuff.

A touch does and doesn't really mean anything. The file is scanned into the system any time someone physically touches the file - be it to move the file into the fileroom, take the file out of the fileroom, open it up to refresh their memories as to the case, etc.

Does anyone here experienced some touches and followed approval after? How many days did it take?

Thanks thanks again! :)

Our file was touched on August 25th and then approval on August 26th but as stated before by a fellow VJ member, touch dont necessarily means an approval. Good Luck for a fast approval!

hey there musashi!! heres a lucky star for you too :star: i hope you get some news soon! i didnt get touched, cept for my first day they received NOA1.... good luck though, i am sure your NOA2 will come soon!

metro... ooh i hope you all get approved soon. i will surely help you if i happen to go through NVC quicker or something like that.

you know, guys, i feel sooo calm now. i have sent off I864 and I864A to hubby to sign and send off when the AOS bill is paid, and i am calling NVC tomorrow to get my case number, or at least try, and once we get that, we can pay the AOS bill online, send off the DS3032 email, and away we go!

the DS230 is also totally completed and i am sending that one to hubby tomorrow so he can mail it as soon as the DS3032 is accepted and they generate our IV bill.

then i have my panel medical exam on Friday 18th Sep (next week) and i am super excited to get that one done!

i am a tiny bit nervous koz i have a big tattoo on my lower arm (its pretty, its all flowers and insects, and a butterfly, but its still a bit tattoo) and i am hoping the doc doesnt care. i am sure he wont, koz here in Melbourne, and Australia really, tattoos arent really taboo or anything.. but who knows. my hubby has tattoos also, so i think its not really an issue. theyre quite attractive on us, and cost a LOT of money, so theyre nice.

anyway im rambling now hehe.

hope everyone is well! :D

Tattoos are so cool, I always wanted to get one, but too terrified of needles!

I'm off with Cindy to Egypt all next week with work, got landlord meetings for our new building and then when we get back I'm off to Florida for some quality time with her and Josie, been ages since we last saw each other. At *some* point during all this I'll get our case number, pay the bill and send off the email. I think I am going to have to spend off and on about a month in Egypt, just hope it doesn't get in the way of the nvc process and I can time things just right because I really don't want any delays :)

Oh, I have an appointment on Friday at the doctors to get all my immunisations up to date and also to do an hiv test. I HATE needles, there is nothing on this earth that reduces me to a quivering wreck like the sight of one...
