police checks!

hi all,

i only sent my i-130 last week to Chicago, however i want to stay ahead of the process so to speak, and was wondering, do i just go ahead and get my police clearance now while i am waiting for a reply?

i want to make sure i am doing everything that needs to be done ahead of time, where possible.

get original birth certificate and marriage licence and police clearance and 4 photos

much better if u get these before u get approval of I-130

thanks abby n sheryl. i have all of the above except the police clearance for myself. i will get onto it. apparently it is $140 or something like that in Australia.. WOW!

I wouldn't be so much in a hurry to get the police certificate, as it's valid only for a certain time. Check here: http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/reciproc...ocity_3504.html about the validity of each document you'll need later for NVC. Good luck!

Absolutely do not order your police certificate just yet. It needs to be valid at the time of the interview and you've still got quite a few months ahead of you with USCIS. Wait until a month or two before your NOA2 is expected and then go for it.
