I-130 form- US address?

Hello

my husband is currently filling out the I-130 form but I am unsure what we should put for question 18 - Address in the United States where your relative intends to live. I am a French citizen living in Canada with an American. Am I obligated to put an address here? Does it look bad if I simply put N/A?

In theory, we could put the address of my husbands aunt who lives in the US. This is the address he normally uses for paperwork needing a US address. But otherwise we do not have the intention of living with his aunt and do not of course have an address of where we will be living in the US.

thank you!

P.

I just put my parent's home address even though we only intend to live there while we search for work in another state. Then once we move we will just have to inform them.

You could just put the aunt's address and once you move just notify them of the change in address.

They do require a US based address to make sure that the petitioner has continued domicile and ties with the US.

As they will mail everything to only a US address

thank you!

but we will do a DCF, then they should send eveything to our canadian address, right?

we really can put the US address of his aunt even if we do not have the intention to live at her place once we get the paperwork?

thank you

It is not true that they will only mail items to a U.S. address while you are applying for a visa, I can only guess that L179 is thinking of the mailing of the green card?

Anyway.

You should put in his Aunt's address for the U.S. address where you intend to live. Even though you are doing DCF, you will still have to prove that your Husband has 'domicile' in the U.S. - and that might help a bit.

This thread might help you out with the whole domicile thing:

On our I-130 we used the address of the USC's parents.

We have a letter from them stating that we can stay there indefinitely while we look for our own place, even though we don't actually intend to ever live there as we'll be moving to a different State. It just proves that steps have been taken to establish domicile.

Because you've posted in this section, I assume you're going the DCF route? We're doing that and so far all letters, NOAs, etc have been sent to our UK address and not the US address we provided :) Our NOA1 actually came via email because we provided one on the bottom of the I-130.

Yes, we are doing the DCF route! :-)

Do we need to give a letter, like you, stating we will stay at his aunt's place while we look for our own plave even though we will not live there as we will be moving to a different State?

The question: Do we need to give this letter when my husband will fill out the I-130 Form at the consulate?

or we need this letter only later for the interview?

thank you

We've got ours ready for the interview, just in case. We didn't send any extra documents with the I-130 and we were approved without a problem :)
