If I become a US Citizen, can I bring my mother to US

I'm just looking ahead. I read the guides and want to make sure I understand.

Once I become a permanent resident, I can become a USC after 3 years? Once I become a USC, can I apply for my mother to immigrate from canada to the US? I understand that I would have to meet the requirements, support etc... but if I did meet all the requirements, would my situation qualify?

Just want to see what the future holds, as I would like to eventually have my mother close to me as she ages, and I can take care of her.

Thanks :)

Yes this is a common topic, ONLY US Citizens can file an I-130 petition for a parent to immigrate to the USA, a US Citizen cannot file for an IN-Law.

No you can apply to become a citizen after 3 years of permanent residency as long as you are still married to the same USC. The permanet residency is based on the date your green card is issued. It is not three years from when you arrive in the US. YES any USC can petiton a parent you can do it the day you get your certificate of naturalazation. Good luck however get married and get the AOS started :)

Why is it that the only one who can stop the crying is the one who started it in the first place?

I came on a K1 and am now a citizen and I have sponsored both my parents, they are just waiting for their interview in July and they should be here in Aug. So yes it can be done.

I too became a US Citizen 3 years & 4 months after I became a greencard holder.
