Its only the confederations cup. Most of the players from spain and brazil don't give a hoot about it. Its a drain on them physically when they should be getting a full summers rest ahead of the World Cup next year. I don't doubt it was a good result from USA, despite the lack of significace to the game.

Not really, Confederation Cup is taken seriously in Brasil, and this team is probably pretty much what we're taking to the World Cup next year.

Yeah and it doesn't matter how non-important the game is, no one wants to lose to the USA in fútbol.

Hopefully they aren't taking the whole summer completely off - some of 'em get pretty chubby off-season :P

@ Lady - no youtube at work, I'll look at it later :)

I completely agree that'll be outrageous specially coming from the great ones like Brazil, Spain, Italy et al.

Haven't seen them play since probably the WM/World Cup - didn't see a lot of that 'razzle-dazzle' then - hope it has improved (unless they're playing Germany). I know they take their football pretty seriously down there...

 is england that bad??

man, hey Mexico used to have England's old coach, Eriksson? The guy was fired 6 months later

Let's see what type of performance we show, I'm praying that we qualify, that's how screwed up we are...

No, they aren't really that bad, but they choke, and they are england, so I will support whoever is across the pitch from them

By the fans maybe, not the players. They are all thinking about not getting injured or fatigued because they all play in European leagues that will drain them physically and mentally enough as it is.

I don't care who wins, I don't mind spain losing to USA, just so long as Torres, Riera, Reina and Alonso don't get injured.

Congrats.

However Spain is not my team/nation therefore not sure why I would be making excuses.

Reminds me of the first time England played USA though. It was in 1950 and all the newspapers in England reported that England won 10-1. What actually happened was that USA beat England 1-0 but the papers all thought a 1 had been missed off the score so reported 10-1.

I think it has to do with your deep hatred for the USA

The U.S. team isn't terrible. Off the top of my head--They made it to the quarterfinals (unexpectedly) in the 2002 World Cup and drew against (champs) Italy in the 2006 WC in what was actually a very good game. They are inconsistent, but they're not exactly a joke team anymore.
