Can anyone advise on whether my fiancee can drive (legally) immediately upon entering the US or must she get a license in NYS before driving? Is there such a thing as an international drivers license and if so is it valid in the US?

My DIL got an international license in Bangkok before coming here. She used in in conjunction with her Thai license until she was able to get her CO license. This was on the advice of our local DMV.

What's the rules on when you can apply for your US driver license in relation to visas/AOS? I appreciate it might/will vary state-to-state - but when I was in Florida on a J1 I did get my FL license, but it expired the day my visa did. Would this be the case with the K1 i.e. it would expire at the end of the 90-day period even though I'd gotten married in that time, or would it still be good through the AOS process?
