Ditto for Calgary, lucky krikit is on vacation, she would be herding us off to the weather report thread!

It's 14 here right now and sunny, the sky is so much bigger here. It's funny, as we drove north it's like the sky just got bigger and in places that soft blue colour that I never saw in Florida.

Ahh it's good to be home. Just wish I didn't dislike this apartment lol

I hope Krikit is enjoying her vacation. That nasty heat wave seemed to break just after the long weekend at the beginning of August. So now their in good ole BC weather! LOL

This is kinda random, but for all you Canadians that moved down to the US already...do your inlaws eat 3 square meals a day, or do they just munch whenever they get hungry?

This is something that's always kinda bugged me down here and I'm curious if it's just my inlaws, or a larger population of the US. I know in Canada, we pretty much ate breakfast lunch and dinner...maybe some snacking here and there, but we always sat down and ate our meals together. Here, my relatives don't really eat "set" meals, they just eat whenever they're hungry, which means we never actually all sit down to a meal together, there is just pretty much people eating sporadically and no pattern to it. With all my inlaws at my house right now, all I want to do is cook everyone a nice meal, but instead they went out, bought a whole bunch of munchies for themselves, and now I can't cook a meal for all of us together, since they're always eating just...whenever.

It's just weird to me. Even my husband is this way. He doesn't wake up and eat breakfast, he just delays eating until he feels like it, then usually around noon will eat something, then might not eat again til 7pm or something, after I've already had dinner. With 6 people including a child in my house right now..imagine all the dishes we're going through with everyone cooking different things for 1 person throughout the day. My poor dishwasher is about to croak.

Maybe I'm just a control freak or something. I just want everyone to sit down and eat a semi-healthy dinner with me, is that too much to ask?!

Well, I've visited my future in laws enough to answer this question.

They eat all 3 meals, most of the time.

Breakfast is usually skipped unless they have time, but otherwise they eat lunch and dinner.

My future mother in law never ever compensates on dinner. She always cooks, always. Since they're Chinese, they usually have 3 different dishes too. It still amazes me that she goes through the time to do it.

don't think not eating 3 meals a day is strictly a US thing...

I never really ate 3 meals a day after I moved out of my parent's house and even when I lived at home I rarely ate breakfast...

and know I maybe eat 1 or 2 meals a day but never had a set time... just whenever I get hungry...

Yeah, definately not a U.S. thing only. We are pretty much like Marilyn, I do eat cereal or something later in the morning, when I get hungry. We do generally have lunch and we eat dinner when we are hungry, which is normally when Mike gets home from work - but no set time and we don't even own a dining room table anymore

So Sundays is my "go to the laundromat" day but I am stuck here at home because they are putting in a new fence around our small back patio area.. which of course we sorely needed, the other one was falling apart... but now the laundry might not get done today.. I could do it next door but it would cost me an arm and leg...

I myself hardly even eat 1 meal a day.

I never eat breakfast because it makes me feel sick most of the time if I have to force myself to eat it.

On work days, I don't even get a 30 minute lunch break, so I don't have time to eat. My job's too busy.

So I usually end up eating nothing on work days till about 4pm. I do eat at work sometimes, working in a bakery is cruel

My in-laws are like that too, I found it a bit wierd. They all just go into the kitchen and grab food when they feel like it, they never plan meals or sit down to dinner. I am structured and like my 3 square meals a day plus snacks, also we eat most of our meals at the dining room table. I don't like eating in front of the TV, because then we're not conversing and my hubby tells me about his day over dinner and vice versa, we have nice chats over meals. Once in a while if there's something exciting on TV then we will, but generally we eat at the table. I grew up not being allowed to eat in front of the TV, the family always sat at the dining table so that's what I'm used to. Also, I find when I do eat in front of the TV I don't pay as much attention and eat too much because I'm paying more attention to the TV not enjoying my meal

not sure... maybe they got rid of it because they have a whole Disney channel now :P

we weren't allowed to watch a lot of TV and that was one of the few shows we got to watch... along with the Brady Brunch, A-Team, Airwolf and Knight Rider.. and a few others... we could only watch Fraggle Rock (which was on after Disney) when my dad wasn't home ..lol

What was the movie that they played all the time, there was two young kids and a creepy old man who kind of looks like Gene Kelly. The two young kids were twins but I don't think they knew it. It's was on at least every other month on the Sunday night Disney movie. I've been trying to remember it forever so I can get it for my daughter. That one was my favourite.
