LOL!

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

That's cool, Catherine.

Charles, didn't you read what she said - she is never doing that drive back to Florida again so a promissory note would not have worked.

So true!

Well, I should have said Mike had to go and get our stuff cleared through Canadian customs today - not U.S. customs - but anyhoo he did, all went well, truck got here around 1:30, movers around 2:00 - they were out of here by like 3.

It has been a totally exhausting day, my feet hurt. We rented this apartment sight unseen and although we used to live here this apartment is nothing like the other one we rented, it is quite small. Our king size bed takes up the whole width of the bedroom, not even room for a night stand! But I don't care because I am tired and i'm grateful to have a bed and also because we will just move in 6 months as we only signed a six month lease.

We set up our computers in the living room, two desks facing each other in front of the patio doors, we can have that an a tv at the end of the room, plus a small table and lamp. Parked the sofa in the dining room.

Good morning all!

I feel like I am blogging since there aren't many other posts in here :hehe:

Anyway, I am up early for no good reason, except I am in a strange place which is a good enough reason I suppose.

Totally exhausted last night and our place looks like a hurricane blew through. Today I need to get stuff out of the living areas so it doesn't seem so tight in here AND - need to change the lightbulbs. There is a light in the dining room and one in the kitchen - they must have used 40 watt cheap bulbs because it's lit like a bar

One thing about this place - or rather this location, is that it is on a ridge and has a somewhat spectacular view. I will post some pics when my camera cord appears. Half the view out our patio doors is the parking lot, well really two thirds, the other third is a kind of nice view to look at.

I am trying to remain positive. This apartment is supposed to be 750 square feet. I am laying in bed this morning going omg, I will go over to the rental office and see if they have anything bigger. This is probably because I am still tired and also because of the hurricane look factor. It's hard to see past that when you are tired though so I just keep reminding myself!

On the upside I have my computer set up! I have my coffee and what little sleep I did get was in my own bed!

Don't know the exact layout of the apartment, but my house that I sold is only about 765 sq feet. It's actually quite roomy, except that there is no separate dining area from the kitchen, there for making that room a little squishy.

*Wonders if the coffee's a Timmies?*.........*said that for Charles*....

Glad your getting some rest Trailmix. Once you organize everything, you'll probably like it, and then it will be time to move. ^_^

Yay. My last Saturday I have to work!! I'm quitting next Friday! Oh my goodness, I'm almost in the States!

I've been wondering though. Is there a cost to the 1-94? I'm flying out of Vancouver.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Well, that is true, Charles.

TimandJoyce, there is a $6 fee for the I-94 when you are crossing the border by land. I believe it is included in the cost of the airflight ticket although I don't know for sure since Canadians are not usually issued I-94s. It is included for flights from other countries.

I'm obviously out of shape. I was at the build for four hours and I'm tired. We put up all of the exterior walls this morning. Then lunch was donated by a BBQ place and Edy's donated a whole lot of ice cream. :)

Only 4 hours and you are exhausted, must be out of shape! lol - I could build for umm, say 15 minutes.

Good job Bermy!

Thanks! That's good to know. I'll just bring extra money along just in case. I double checked my flight, and I don't have two hours in Dallas like I thought I did!! I was going to eat, but I won't even have time to drink! Hopefully I can grab a snack before boarding my next flight. I have less than an hour before my connection!

Ditto for Calgary, lucky krikit is on vacation, she would be herding us off to the weather report thread!

It's 14 here right now and sunny, the sky is so much bigger here. It's funny, as we drove north it's like the sky just got bigger and in places that soft blue colour that I never saw in Florida.

Ahh it's good to be home. Just wish I didn't dislike this apartment lol

I know what you mean about the sky colour, Trailmix! One of the things that I noticed so strongly when I first moved down here to Georgia was how intense the blue is, especially at dusk - it is a totally different shade of blue that I never saw back in Canada. Soft blue, especially in the evening, describes the wide Canadian sky so well. The other thing I remember from Canada is that the clouds seemed different. We get lots of cumulus clouds here but we don't seem to get the stratus clouds or cirrous clouds very often - I love those beautiful Canadian mackerel skies. This is something I never thought would be different. I do have to say, though, I love that luminous intense almost turquoise sky we get here late in the afternoon and early evening.
