I hope they had elevators. I've seen several apartments with just stairs from floor, to floor.

wow..and you were just moving yourself, weren't you?? Maybe hire yourself out as a moving company?

Yuck Em! I guess when 15 people show up to help you move it becomes a group activity everytime someone moves!

Actually, my Husband's co-worker wanted to come and help us pack the truck. When he told him we had hired someone he still wanted to come and help! I thought that was very nice. Also the manager of the department offered to let us stay with him for the 2 days we are staying in the hotel here before we leave - also very nice!

Probably just ensuring u leave town, lol

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Good morning! Hope everyone had a great weekend. We went to a county fair on Saturday and it was the lamest fair I've ever been to. A total waste of money! We don't have much luck with fairs it seems. Going for my biometrics today as well, so it'll be good day!

Jill we leave here on Wednesday morning, moving to a hotel later today and the truck will be packed tomorrow.

Thanks for the coffee Carla - sounds like the fair is about as much fun as the Lake Mary farmer's market!

Oh wow. That came up quickly. Have a safe trip home, Trailmix. Looking forward to hear about your travels.

Well, we're back from our trip to Atlanta. It was actually quite fun. I now have to get ready to leave for Vancouver early Wednesday. bleh. Just popping in to say hi.

Oh, I should clarify. The "bleh" is for the getting ready bit, and for having to get up at an ungodly hour to leave for the airport. I am actually quite excited to be heading "home" and seeing the family.

Blah! In Calgary, if a building is no more than 3 stories, they are not required to have an elevator (hence there are a lot of 3 story apartment buildings) - including the one we are moving to. That is why I specifically asked for one on the ground floor.

Thanks Trailmix!

Yes, Vancouver is le pool party. We leave on Wednesday. My husband has to leave early due to work so he's flying from Seattle to Denver on August 10th. Good thing I remembered to cancel his ticket! LOL. We both fly back on the 14th, and will meet at the airport in Orlando. I was going to switch my flight to come home when he flies to Denver, but the cost to change the ticket is too much. Gosh. There is so much to do. :o I get panicky every time I think about it.
