Em, are you enjoying the peace and quiet of your new place?

OH HEAVENS YES!!! :)

ha ha.. I think we are the loudest people in our new space.. it's QUIET... tee hee.. So glad that the chaos is over. there is a garage across the st. with full service (and that hose that cars drive over and it goes ding ding) and it's the loudest noise we hear

:o Shut up!!! There is one across the street our new place, too ----I am soooo looking forward to our new place..... cuz it is QUIET :P

Right now we live underneath a bunch of young peepz who party like the world is coming to an end; plus we are too close to the main road around and it is noisy all the time. I could scream, but that would be noisy :hehe:

get ready for the zooot zooot of the air compressor tool they use to put on tires.. that's all I hear all day from their garage.. it's like jiffy lube for for tires :P

Good thing is, we are not on the front of the building so it's quieter. Plus, I spend 9 hours/day out of the house :hehe:

Does anybody else remember when full service gas stations were the norm? You would drive into the gas station and don't you dare touch those pumps! The uniformed guy would come out and wash your windows and check your oil while the gas was pumping. Then he would give you points towards your free dishes or free Tide with a free towel inside or whatever. lol

Or you would get a tiger tail for your bike for putting a tiger in your tank at Esso!

Yes, there were very few self-serve when I was last in Saskatoon. Maybe that's changed? Actually your gas was free at FastGas if they didn't ask to check your oil and do your windshield when you pulled up. Gas was never more expensive than self-serve and when it's -40 below, I didn't like pumping my own gas. On our travels in Canada when Gene was up one time we stopped at a service station and I had to go to the potty and left Gene at the car and told him to tell the attendant to "fill it up". He did, and then after the attendant had finished, Gene gave her a toonie as a tip. I paid inside the station and he told me about it afterwards. I laughed. He said she looked at him very weird and hesitated taking it.

What are aof Saskatoonwhere u in? lol Many offer both full and self serve!! I dislike people pumping my gas!!

flames...you KNOW I was from Saskatoon! I lived on 4th Avenue North, in City Park. I would usually get gas on 33rd between Quebec and 2nd Ave., or Circle Drive and Quebec. At the FasGas. I think I said Fast earlier, but it's FasGas. I would go there or Co-op. Yes, some offered both self-serve and full serve, but I would only go to full serve. You dislike people pumping your gas? Why? I know of several stations that employed intellectually challenged adults to pump gas. While I'm not intellectually challenged, I worked at a gas station most of my high school years, and throughout University as well so that I could pay my own way through school...take away those jobs, and there are less of them out there for young people, and people with some disabilities. I applaud stations that pump gas!

Sorry. That just struck me as funny. *giggle*

Yes I know u from Stoon? I just don't like people pumping my gas, personal preference. I too pumped gas all thru high school and enjoyed it. Know a lot of smart people, smarter than I that did as well. I wasn't putting people down. Wife has a friend who grew up in NJ and when she went to college out of state was the first time ever filling up her car,lol she had no clue. And know she is a brain surgeon, lol All goes well, i'll be in stoon again mid august

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Getting of the gas topic...I packed another box   Two down, and two to go!!

And very slowly my house is looking like some is moving. Not as many items on the shelves, plants and knick knacks gone...And I even remembered to cancel my hospital stay insurance!! The woman told me, "uh, yes, you need to be a resident of Canada..lol" But my life insurance is still good, and I can change the beneficiary. Only $11/ month so if something happens, Tim gets rich!! ( but I'm won't tell him that...just in case my food starts tasting like almonds)

Ugh!! and it's too hot here right now, we're going through a heat wave that will reach over 30 (feeling like 35) and for where I'm from that's hot!!! What was I thinking??? Moving to SC in August!! Oh my.....

Yep.. it's call New Jersey.. One of the enduring bits about the state IMO :)

Go on! :o

Oregon too.. well, I am not sure about all the extras but they do pump the gas for you and wash your windows...

All goes well, i'll be in stoon again mid august

In time to pass through Regina for a SK Riders home game??? Cmon I know Saskatoon is the better city, but in Regina we got the Riders!! :P Not that I have been following them too closely over the past few years, they got their a$$es handed to them last weekend by Montreal! Pretty much the only full service stations are Turbo, Coop and FasGas. I sometimes go to Coop when I feel too lazy to pump my own at Petro Canada or Shell. But then you can't pay at the pump with debit or CC, and you have to go inside and stand in line with a bunch of people

I just miss being able to pump the gas and then go in and pay. The first time I came here and tried to pump the gas it wouldn't work, so the guy at the pump over had to explain to me how it works here

That's so cute! He's having a fun summer vacation. I think that's standard with grandparents, they are extra fun and don't have as many rules as they did with their own kids
