Does anybody else remember when full service gas stations were the norm? You would drive into the gas station and don't you dare touch those pumps! The uniformed guy would come out and wash your windows and check your oil while the gas was pumping. Then he would give you points towards your free dishes or free Tide with a free towel inside or whatever. lol

Or you would get a tiger tail for your bike for putting a tiger in your tank at Esso!

some real interesting characters work at those gas stations along the New jersey Turn pike, lol I try to avoid them at all costs, lol

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

That happened to me a couple years ago here on the island!! Tim was up visiting, and I had to stop to get gas. Imagine my shock as I was about to get out of the car, and there was someone standing there asking, "fill up, mam?" I almost didn't know how to answer. And then, he even topped up my transmission fluid!! Wow..wish they were all like that again...

There's still one of those in good ol' Bronte! At the corner of Bronte Rd. and Lakeshore! A full serve, they check your oil, wash your windows, and the gas is usually cheaper at that! Called Pioneer, you don't find them around much anymore

Oh the Pioneer Station! I used to go to them! I forgot all about that. They had the Pop Shoppe. I loved their grapefruit pop. I wonder if they still sell that?

Em, are you enjoying the peace and quiet of your new place?

:o Shut up!!! There is one across the street our new place, too ----I am soooo looking forward to our new place..... cuz it is QUIET :P

Right now we live underneath a bunch of young peepz who party like the world is coming to an end; plus we are too close to the main road around and it is noisy all the time. I could scream, but that would be noisy :hehe:

Yes, there were very few self-serve when I was last in Saskatoon. Maybe that's changed? Actually your gas was free at FastGas if they didn't ask to check your oil and do your windshield when you pulled up. Gas was never more expensive than self-serve and when it's -40 below, I didn't like pumping my own gas. On our travels in Canada when Gene was up one time we stopped at a service station and I had to go to the potty and left Gene at the car and told him to tell the attendant to "fill it up". He did, and then after the attendant had finished, Gene gave her a toonie as a tip. I paid inside the station and he told me about it afterwards. I laughed. He said she looked at him very weird and hesitated taking it.
