It went good. I have to get an endoscopy done again, this problem has been going on since I left Canada and it comes and goes. Hopefully now we'll figure it out... my doctor seems keen on getting it figured out and fixed where my old doctor couldn't find the solution so just gave up.

My stomach doesn't want to act right so I am going to get that b1tch fix0red. :P

Excellent. I've had the endoscopy twice. The first time without drugs. The second time I went to a new specialist and he was mortified that the first guy did it without drugs. You can imagine how terrified I was to get it done again. Anyway, had the surgery and I am now all fixx0red. Best thing I ever did. Wasn't happy at the time, mind you, but I sure am happy now.

Thats what I figure, get it all done and fixed and I can move on and live a pain free life.

Donne moi une poptart!

Glad you're getting it looked after and quite possibly fixed up!! Funny how your other doctor couldn't find the solution. Geeeeeze...that's what tests are for!! My friend is going through that, pain everywhere in her body, can't hardly even touch her, and it's a mystery...

Through an old PR connection, i was interviewed by the Associated Press for an article about Tim Hortons in NYC. I hope I sounded someone intelligent and eloquent, LOL.

Then since my hubs was too shy, I got one of his US friends to do an interview.

cool beans about the interview Sapphire!!

Okay I'm dying here.. the mail came late today - like 5 hrs late.. anyway one of the letters came in a special USPS envelope that says the following:

I want to extend my sincere apology as your Postmaster for the enclosed document that as inadvertently damaged in handling by your Postal Servcie. We are aware how important your mail is to you. With that in mind we are forwarding it to you in an expeditious fashion.

Blah blah blah 202 billion pieces of mail a year, trying to eliminate these incidents etc..

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding and sincerly regret any inconvenience that you have experienced..

Wanna know what makes me laugh??

It was a piece of JUNK mail

That is pretty nice of the post office !

So my Husband visited the Kennedy Space center yesterday. It was a tad boring - he also saw the Star Trek movie at the IMAX there - which was good. Methinks the people at the Space Center aren't really visitor friendly with their scheduling and tours.

He had a choice of a free tour or a paid tour - it takes around 3 hours. The thing is, if he had taken the tour he would have missed the movie - so he didn't. There are no shorter tours and if you don't take a tour you don't get to see the launch pad. One would think they would have mini tours? I mean what if you had your kiddies with you - a three hour tour would be kind of long for them (queue Gilligan's Island music).

Anyway, he brought me a gift from the gift shop. It's a packet of ice cream of the kind they would take on Apollo missions - it's quite freakish to have ice cream that doesn't need to be frozen.

pic4.jpg

Originally Developed for the early Apollo Missions, this space treat is frozen to -40 F (-40 C) and then vacuum dried and placed in a special foil pouch. Freeze-dried foods are used by astronauts eating under weightlessness conditions in space.

I've had one of those 'destroyed mail' letters as well - it was also a Christmas card sent to a friend in Alaska. I seriously wondered at the time if someone had opened it because that is exactly how the envelope looked, and when they found it was only a card and no money or gift card or cheque included, threw the card away, and then did the 'destroyed mail' thing for the envelope. I would not normally think about anything like that but for some reason that thought just stuck in my mind.

So someone just came and bought our washer and dryer which is good, from an ad I put on craigslist, they aren't going to pick them up until the week after next - so that works perfectly. Basically I said in the ad that they couldn't be picked up until the 27th.

Sold them for $150 - which is a pittance  - however we are moving to an apartment in Calgary first and it just seems silly to haul them all the way there so we can store them in the 2nd bedroom!

Also got our TV, internet and Phone set up in Calgary this morning. You know, not one of them asked me for my SIN haha (the only people I had to give ID to was Shaw Cable and they were happy with a DL number).

Another thing I think is funny - of all the people we have told that we are moving back to Canada, not one person has said - why? - oh except the kid that mows our lawn

I mean it's no big mystery, we just prefer Calgary - but I still find it funny.

Setting up utilities does not require a SIN only requires ID that proves you are who you say you are.

Congrats on your move back!

damn must have missed a lot, had no clue u guys were moving back to calgary, lol I love Calgary, spent some time there in my Army days, and my sister lives there.

I have had very little luck on CL selling stuff. Tried selling our old washer/dryer on there, included pics and only wanted $50 for both of them--they worked fine, but not 1 bite!! said FREE, then flooded, lol same for our old oven--worked great, said $25, no response, then FREE, whammoo flooded again!! Both went to good homes, people that could really use them, so it all worked out.

gl on ur travels back to Calgary!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Thanks flames! and moni - yes, I didn't expect them to ask me for my SIN, just a complete contrast to the U.S. where everyone must have your SSN.

I sold a few things before leaving Calgary using kijiji - that went well - but yes, we gave away a lot of stuff and the response was instant emails!

We only had 2 responses to our washer and dryer ad on craigslist here - zero responses on our kijiji ad.
