OK this is kinda wierd, but... sometimes I have trouble understanding people when they speak here. And they are speaking English. I know Philly-ians have a strong accent, so that doesn't help at all. Sometimes it sounds like they are mumbling and I didn't catch a word they said. For example the word water, instead of prounouncing it like water it sounds like warrr. Towel sounds like tal. It's so frustrating sometimes to attempt a conversation with people when I don't understand what they are saying. Last night we were at a friend's BBQ and one of the girls said to me "Is there a coldstone near you" Meaning coldstone creamery. I thought she said "Is there a cold sore on you?" And I was like no, why are you asking me if I have coldsores, wierdo. It's so odd. I wish they would enunciate their words.

getting kind of excited .. we are planning on going to San Diego for a few days in about a month.. I just reserved the hotel... got a good deal for a nice hotel, got mostly good reviews... only thing I don't like about the hotel is that it doesn't have a hot tub :P but it does have a heated pool, free parking, free breakfast and free wifi... plus all the rooms have fridges and microwaves..oh and a king sized bed ...... all for about 48 bucks a night with AAA

and we bought tickets for a baseball game...

we plan on going to Sea World, The Zoo, a couple of museums, take a tour of an aircraft carrier etc.. should be fun

That sounds great! Bah, you don't want to use a public hot tub anyway. Trust me on this

the a/c carrier is right by broadway pier, http://www.midway.org/ Hortons plaza--a huge mall is just up the street. While I was in the Navy, we docked at Broadway pier which is right downtown! There is a metro(trolley) stop right there as well http://www.sdmts.com/ Belive that is AMERICAN PLAZA http://www.sdmts.com/Trolley/Trolley.asp

Lot of cool , small little shops in that area down by the water. Ben and Jerry ice cream too! Gas lamp district is close by as well. And the blue line will take you to Tijuana!!!! Dont go at night, lol

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Good morning everyone! It's so nice to have the internet! Marilyn, your vacation sounds lovely. Trailmix... :crying: .

I have an internet friend I met 10 years ago, and then Gene and I met her again in 2006 while we were travelling in Western Canada. Well, her and her husband are travelling our way for several weeks and we're managing to meet up Thursday evening for supper. I'm so excited!

Hope everyone has a great day!
