They believe no part of the animal should be wasted unless it's poisonous.

I've been to a chinese supermarket and I've seen pig blood, pig uterus and frozen cow #######.

My fiance'd never make me eat any of it though

Ummm...cows are female.

Okay well, this is what you call "authentic" chinese food.

They're from Taiwan, so it's nothing like chicken balls or lemon chicken.

I can't stand alot of it, so I hardly eat much of it.

Some stuff is SO good though.

Chicken feet anyone? :|

(I cant even look at people eating them)

And Raven, my fiance's mother does the cooking.

LMAO, Taiwanese food! I got a story to tell ya. Hubby (then fiance) and I went to Taiwan for vacation two years ago. (honestly...who goes to Taiwan for vacation? Most people go because they have family to visit or business to attend. We had neither reasons but hubby insisted. So off we went to tour the island.) The tour group took a break in some small city and ate at a family-owned restaurant serving Taiwanese food.

My Cantonese wasn't perfect but I can understand enough. One tourist from Hong Kong complained to his wife about how lousy the food was, how this food was second-class and only Taiwanese eat what Chinese consider table scrap, etc. I translated to hubby and he just cracked up at the tourist's harsh review. Granted, some of the dishes were very authentic that hubby wouldn't touch it.

Ugh, chicken feet!

Yeah. :\ Midnight at the outlets, 5am Walmart, 7am Target. Never again.

I'd get up really early to catch some deals, but I'm not sure about going late at night. Then again, this past one, my driving privileges were gone. Next year, however, could be a different story...

I know a woman whose husband is Chinese. After they got married, they ALWAYS ate Chinese food, rice etc. One day...I think about a month or so later, he found her crying in the bedroom. When he asked her what the matter was, she sobbed, " I just want to eat potatoes again!!!" Course, he realized she's wasn't used to eating like him, and things changed..

Hang in there Rhiann. I'm sure things will turn around. Have you mentioned....pizza yet? *wink*

LOL. I was in the company of people attending a conference held in Richmond City (we call it the "second Chinatown) and they were complaining about the food at a high-end chinese restaurant. One said, "Where can I find REAL food like pizza or hotdogs?"

 Never occurred to me that westerners would consider pizza or hotdogs "real" food. Gotta love the differences in cultures and food.

I absolutly love sushi too.

What I dont get is that sushi's so much more expensive here in California.

Back at home I could go to an all you can eat where they bring it to you for like 12 bucks.

Here I cant find anything that's like that and sushi's so expensive.

I really don't get it, and it's dissapointing cause I dont want to pay a fortune for it.

Maybe I need to start making it myself at home.

And I've mentioned pizza a few times, and tacos

No money atm for fast food though.

Sushi's expensive in Chicago too! And in Las Vegas! And they're not fresh!

When I took hubby to eat sushi in Vancouver/Seattle, it was a whole new experience for him. Now he's a sushi snob.

 yeah...I'm still getting used to the difference between SOUTHERN cooking and WESTERN. Not overly a lot, but fried means DEEP fried, and I can't eat like that all the time. I like my food grilled! And gravy with just about everything too.

Maybe it was a hermaphrodite cow. And maybe they can get lots more money for hermaphrodite cow penises. Maybe.

:wow:

I guess I just never thought of that possibility.

Okay. See? I draw the line at eating feet. Or testicles or chitlins or anything else that shouldn't be consumed unless it's to stave off death.

I've been bugging hubby about chitlins, since I've heard so much about them but he's adamant about me not trying them, lol.

I don't mind most of it, but when I cook dinner here, I use the oven  Tim hasn't complained..yet..but just for him I'll pan fry too. We don't have a proper deep fryer, *gasp* You'd think that would be a for sure thing here! He says he'll put oil in a pot and put it on the BBQ! Ummmm think I'll just go pick up a proper fryer...little safer that way...
