Every time it rains like that I'm reminded that our two stray cats would have been outside in it if we didn't have them.

I went to my doctor yesterday and he asked if I drank a lot of coffee. When I told him that I had a cup of tea every morning, he laughed at me. Phil laughs at me because the tea I drink plus several of the things I brought with me from Bermuda have the Queen's seal on them. It's not like searched for a hairbrush with it. It's a good quality hairbrush for a reasonable price.

hey wait a minute, where's the coffee? and did krikit eat all the timbits already?

Carla's internetz went down and the rest of us are too lazy to make coffee. And timbits are a treat, Charles. You can't have them every day, you know. That would be wrong.

hmpfff. we're gonna have to revoke your canadian citizenship for that.

Cool and overcast here so far - only 77 - I still have the windows open. We had a huge storm come through yesterday - I was working about 15 miles away when it went overhead and we lost power. So I ended up driving home going back through the storm and beating it to the house where about 10 minutes later it came over the house too - rain like buckets being dumped. (At least I didn't have to water the garden!). The temperature plummeted from 89 degrees to 72 right after the storm but after the skies cleared it went back up to 88. It cooled off overnight though and it hasn't done that for a while, hence the open windows :) . More storms expected today but right now it is that quiet ' waiting' period before bad weather moves in. I kind of like it like this.

We need an international money order, in Canadian funds. So my Husband just went to our Bank (RBC in Florida) - sure they can do it, but they have to order it - it can take up to 2 weeks

Can't one goto the post office for one???

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

What about transferring money from Canadians Bank Account to American Account (Direct Transfer).

Last time I gave a Canadian Money Order to my fiance his bank held it for 45 days AND charged him $80

administration fee. Someone once told me that I could get my credit union to d/d to his account, for free,

but they charge $40.00 for this fee.

I am supposed to go into the city to see a Canadian band by the name of 'the handsome furs' play to tonight but I am unsure. I don't like being tired at work  and I have to work tommorow, although it is a friday so maybe I should just go. I can rest over the weekend.

Donne moi une poptart!

I could so easily do an electronic transfer, either via customhouse or interac email payment - but this particular company doesn't accept that type of payment nor do they take credit cards (so silly).

So he did go to the post office, they can do an international money order in U.S. dollars.

So we are just going to ask a friend if he will do it for us. What a hassle.

it was a good fan and it shall be missed ..lol

Thanks for the Panera Bread link, Flames - if I extend the range to 20 miles there are apparently 11 of them in the area - all of them mid-town or north. Of course, we're south, hehehe. We will have to drive into Atlanta sometime and I can introduce Joe to Panera Bread. Sure wish they had one closer to us:-).

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
