Oh man, Nev, I wanted to see Avatar but we had to run a whole pile of errands today.

So, Made it to the USofA with no hitch at all. My travel was AWESOME -- thank you great weather and air canada for being on time. I was at BWI by 9am. Pretty great.

i also had NO issues at the border -- they, again, did not ask for any of my letters of ties to canada. BUT, the border guide DID take a while to type some information in the system. Was it about me? My passport? What? I'm curious, actually but they never asked me anything else but... I do wonder.

:D

Well, just thought I'd let you all know!

Avatar is great. Just don't be expecting anything story-wise other than a simple plot with standard action / adventure film cliches. If you can put that aside and be swept up by the sights and sounds and FEEL of the movie, you'll love it, I'm sure.

Merry Christmas Eve morning everyone! I don't know when I"ll be posting up until the New Year. Gene is off work until January 3rd now, so I don't know when I'll be able to get on-line.

I'm wishing everyone here a very Merry Christmas, and many blessings and for the happiest of New Years! (F)

Merry xmas all!! Being the new kid on the unit, stuck with working Xmas eve night and Xmas Day night! So Xmas day will be spent mostly sleeping and at work. Oh well, I will appreciate the next paycheque, lol have a safe one!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Happy Christmas Eve, folks. :)

I've been awake for two hours already (that means since 3:30 AM where I am...). I guess I'm just nervous about my wife's flights, even though she was able to switch to a layover / connection in Atlanta. I'm so glad she did that though. I checked out flightstats.com for both of her flights / airports today, and delays are currently at "very low" status. I checked her former flight, which was going through Minneapolis...it's at "very high", with the scale at the maximum point of 5. She hates flying (doesn't fear it -- just finds the process annoying), so she's not too happy about an extra two hours on a plane (the trip to Atlanta is pretty much due South from her, whereas she's heading North, of course...), but I think she'd prefer that over spending Christmas Day in a snowed-in Minnesota airport. She's told me a few times in the past that one of her greatest fears is being in a situation like in the Tom Hanks movie The Terminal. Yup...she hates airports that much.

Merry xmas all!! Being the new kid on the unit, stuck with working Xmas eve night and Xmas Day night! So Xmas day will be spent mostly sleeping and at work. Oh well, I will appreciate the next paycheque, lol have a safe one!

Ah, I remember those years when my sister first started out as a nurse. She used to get heaped with the Christmas Eve - Christmas Night shifts too! There have even been a couple of Christmases where we've decided to celebrate it a couple of days or so later just to accommodate her. Like you though, she never minded much...especially when she got the paycheque! :P

To those of you who will be spending the next couple of days or so offline, I wish you all the very best for a Merry Christmas. Hopefully you'll all be together with your loved ones in some form or another. :)

And for La Souris, Laure and our other resident Francophones...Joyeux Noel!
