Good luck Sapphire!

You know what I have always found weird about this house we live in, or maybe better put as - what I find annoying. The bathroom fan is on the same switch as the bathroom light.

It's such a waste of electricity, plus this is not whisper quiet, so you go in there at night to brush your teeth, or go in to put your makeup on and you must listen to that fan. When we buy our next house, if it is wired like that, I will pay money to have it rewired.

Good morning all... Today is 7/8/09... 789 hehe I just noticed that and felt the need to share :P

Or 8/7/9 in Canadian eh.

you know, getting used to that here was one of my biggest challenges. When I started at the hotel, imagine the backwards Canadian making several incorrect reservations for people in our computer systems

How sweet of you Krikit to notice I wasn't here this morning with coffee! :crying:

What an afternoon I had yesterday! I was on the phone with AT&T for over 2 hours. Our modem crashed and just won't work. So, after sitting on the phone for over a 1/2 hour trying to diagnose the problem, it was determined that my modem was "bad", and no longer works. I was told to call Best Buy or Radio Shack for a new one. Bummer!

So, I call both stores, and not only do they not have any, ANYWHERE in MISSOURI, but when they do get them, they get one or two, and they're picked up by waiting people! The guy at Best Buy even said they don't have any in their warehouse. Of COURSE AT&T won't support any but their own modem's. Radio Shack had the same story. Talk about a monopoly! They too checked, and there are none in their warehouse. They said there has been a problem with AT&T supplying modems for a very long time.

So I called AT&T and I was livid. What were we to do? Gene called last night as well, and basically threatened to cut off their service, and we'd go with cable or something. However, the cable internet service here is ####### in reality, and we had numerous problems with them for ages before we switched.

So here now I sit at Starbuks, and AT&T is sending us out a modem (at no charge after Gene got through with them!). But it won't arrive until Friday!!!

In this day and age, I can't believe we're putting up with this, but truly, what are we going to do? I'm sure you all have comments about this...unfortunately, I won't be on-line to see them!

So, no coffee this morning. I should put this in the vent thread but I'm just on my way to a meeting for my volunteer work, so have to run...

I'll try to pop in from time to time in the next several days, but again, I have to travel to a Starbucks, or the library, or someplace else that I don't know where there is free wi-fi...

Enjoy your day everyone! If anyone can take over coffee duty until I get back, it's much appreciated!

There's a song at work."walk 500 miles" or something like that. I don't know who sings it, but I'm almost positive there is a line that says..

"I'll be the man that upsets cows"....

Now I know that's not right, but it sure sounds like it!

That's got to be "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" by The Proclaimers. But I can't imagine anywhere where it says, or even sounds like, being the man that upsets cows.

So..... we've had our trip to Vancouver and Seattle all booked since April, blah blah blah. Well, my husband's employer has scheduled him for a business trip to Denver during the last week of our vacation. So now he's going to be leaving early and flying there, then he'll meet me at the Orlando airport when I fly back from Vancouver. Alone. Like all family vacations turn out.:blink::blink:

I think the line is something like *hee hee, you'd think I'd know it, because I hear it at work lots*...

I be the man to walk 500 miles

And I would walk 500 more...

*then the line about upsetting cows*....

I really could google it. I'm just lazy...

Um...makes him work when he's away from home? Like no one else can go to Denver?? Sheesh!! He doesn't have a choice in the matter? I'm so sorry. Maybe something can get worked out.

Today I am going to the DMV to get a NYS license.

Wish me luck!!

Is every state different with this? I was under the impression I had to wait till I got my GC before I could get a State license..

What the heck, Carla?!!! I had to check your location to see if you were living in some sort of backwoods area.

I'm assuming they got the computer through a deal with AT+T? Which must mean that if there is a problem, they should replace parts for free?? Totally guessing on this.

I know that the phone company here in BC, Telus, also does that. Sends you out a free computer when you sign up on a two or three year contract with them. *But I've hear the 'puter isn't very good*

Ok..so sometimes I can get multiple quotes in one posting, and other times not. Weird. I push the "quote" button... Not sure if there is a time limit to have 3 or 4 replies, or I'm just doing it wrong in the first place  which, for this blonde, is probably the latter!!

Here ya go! ( I can't find a part that sounds like upsetting cows, I had to check. I love this song!)

The Proclaimers

I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) Lyrics

When I wake up yeah I know I'm gonna be

I'm gonna be the man who wakes up next to you

When I go out yeah I know I'm gonna be

I'm gonna be the man who goes along with you

If I get drunk yes I know I'm gonna be

I'm gonna be the man who gets drunk next to you

And if I haver yeah I know I'm gonna be

I'm gonna be the man who's havering to you

But I would walk 500 miles

And I would walk 500 more

Just to be the man who walked 1000 miles

To fall down at your door

When I'm working yes I know I'm gonna be

I'm gonna be the man who's working hard for you

And when the money comes in for the work I'll do

I'll pass almost every penny on to you

When I come home yeah I know I'm gonna be

I'm gonna be the man who comes back home to you

And if I grow old well I know I'm gonna be

I'm gonna be the man who's growing old with you

But I would walk 500 miles

And I would walk 500 more

Just to be the man who walked 1000 miles

To fall down at your door

When I'm lonely yes I know I'm gonna be

I'm gonna be the man whose lonely without you

When I'm dreaming yes I know I'm gonna dream

Dream about the time when I'm with you.

But I would walk 500 miles

And I would walk 500 more

Just to be the man who walked 1000 miles

To fall down at your door

Well done!!! Believe it or not, I hadn't heard that song. So in reality, I have no idea how fast or slow it is. However, I work for Curves and every song is fast!!! You should hear what they did with Wake up Little Suzie!! LOL LOL It sounds like the Everly Brothers on Speed!! Not to mention some of Elvis' songs! LOL LOL So...most of the song, to me, is very fast with words running together quickly, and unless you already know it....*shrugs*...guess the 1000 miles said fast sounds like..."upsets cows"...LOL LOL never thought to add the miles together!! Doh.gif

This video is really quite well done:

I saw that!! I love it. Someone need a good raise for that!

Every state is different with their rules. I got my DL without even EAD, just photo ID and didn't have to take a test either (PA)

Ahhhh ok, just that had me confused. Tim had told me that I needed the GC first. *But then again, I've noticed he's been wrong with some of what he hears...so I better check it out too!*

In Virginia all I needed was my SSN, and my NOA1 for AOS to get my license...good for a year from the receipt date of the NOA. Then when that expired, got another that was good until my GC expired (this past June 18)...when that happened, renewed again with my NOA for Removal of Conditions, good for a year from the receipt date on the NOA.

The DMV is going to really get to know me by the time I go back next year...it will only be good until my 30th birthday (2 years)
