I totally love the snowy Bison photo! It's kinda neat!

We're supposed to get some snow tonight, but not much. Its been snowing way to much lately, but lightly, so its not really accumulating to much, thank goodness.

Ooh, brrrrr. Wow. Thanks Bern. :)

How are you and Mike feeling about Canada now, Trail?

Well

Funny you should mention the pics, I was actually going to take pics yesterday but the camera battery was dead, it's charged now but the blizzard is pretty much over. Mike is heartier about this weather than I am, he didn't want to go out yesterday though.

Oh and we were going to order pasta from pizza hut last night - but they wouldn't deliver because of the storm, granted we are quite a distance from them - I just said oh - these whipper snappers aren't very hearty!!

Although, I had said I felt mean ordering anything and dragging someone out - Mike said well if they don't deliver they don't make money.

Id take calgary in a snowstorm any day over DC,lol We bought anew camera this past week a Fuji F70EXR, not sure if I'm happy with it or not. Think I may just return it and stick with a canon!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I just remember driving home at 10km/h and just inching along and not being able to see a foot in front of me...:X Lots of sliding about too.

Yeah, I've noticed the prices of a lot of items are more expensive in BC (particularly Vancouver) than in the United States. That depends on the area within the U.S. of course, but overall, I've found BC to be more expensive. From the sound of it, BC is more expensive than other areas in Canada, too. I know it's certainly pricier here than in Edmonton (where my wife is from), but then again, Edmonton has freezing winters and Vancouver doesn't. A trade-off, I suppose.

Coquitlam Centre (sorry Mal, I agree that "center" is the right way to spell it, but in this case, "centre" is part of the mall's name) isn't a bad mall. Sometimes the stores are of so-so quality. No matter how many times I go there, I always get turned around and somehow find myself in the food court. :P

My favorite mall here is Oakridge. It's too bad it takes a LONG time to drive out to Oakridge Centre. It's right near VanDusen Gardens and Queen Elizabeth park (West 41st Ave and Cambie St), so it's quite the drive from where I live.

My wife and I were in that area recently as we went to Temple Sholom. I was looking for a good-looking menorah (technically a Hanukkiah) that wouldn't break the bank and they had a bunch of them there. After getting the menorah, my wife wanted to stop by Oakridge since it was less than a five minute drive from there. And I still got turned around and found myself at the food court... <_<

Oh yum, Christmas cookies with our coffee! Thanks Trailmix

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

You know, it's kind of funny. I bet the conversations that go on here in the Canada forum reaffirm the international perception of Canadians -- that we're polite, friendly, helpful...and totally irreverent!

Drop Dead Gorgeous.

am watching this movie right now and holy crappers, it's awesomely hilarious! I had no idea that the writing was so good and it was so tongue in cheek.

Recommending this to you all as a pretty great Sunday afternoon watch.

"what'd they do, have a sale on dull needles at Kmart?"

Amber Atkins: My mom never hid the fact that my dad chose his career over us. What was it she always said?

Loretta: Once a carnie, always a carnie.

Amber Atkins: Mom still cries every time she sees a tilt-a-whirl or a fat lady in a tube top.

just some of the quotes that have cracked me up...

Sometimes, the topics in the PI part of the forums kind of amuse me.

Especially the whole "american women are blah blah blah etc".

I'm sorry, I've met alot of American women who arent selfish, materialistic w**res. :)

I don't know how many times that topic has come up since I've been on the board. It's useful as a character identifier, though.

Me too.

Like my wife. :)

I just peeked into that thread (because I saw a Canadian forum name had posted in it and it piqued my curiosity...) and was a little surprised at the stereotypes as well! Sure, there are surely SOME situations where the marriage is more of a symbiotic relationship than anything (USC gets quiet, polite, demure wife / Filipina gets green card, "better life" for family, potentially more freedoms etc.), but I'm sure that most cases are indeed based on love. That's why there are so many regional forums... Love can come from anywhere. It wouldn't surprise me if an Australian married a Siberian at some point.
