I'm gonna guess her husband is being transferred to Japan.

I'm going to guess she decided to become a Geisha.

LOL. But I still have to go to the US. My husband is in the US Army and he's currently deployed to Kuwait. He'll be back home and stationed at Fort Bliss until June 2010, in which he is being transfered to a new unit and then we're going to Japann! We'll be there for 2 years and it'll be great since it's close to the Philippines, and I have a family union there in 2011. I still need my permanent resident card to go to Japan with him, so I'm still in line. And we're more than likely going to expedite...since I need to be there by April in order to go with him, together. So wish us luck!

And I'm going to learn Japanese so quickly...and not become a Geishaa! :3!

I'm so jealous! Japan!

I'm dying to visit Japan, it's the one place I must visit before I kick the bucket.

ME TOO!!!

But why is it bad? Isn't that what the cowboys and stuff ate? How can anything that cowboys ate be bad?

I love Beef jerky so much. My husband made some homemade jerky last year and it ROCKED.

I ate way too much and well, uh... let's just say that the lack of water/moisture in it does irritating things to ones's body,

;)

Sorry for the TMI, I'm a big fan of the TMI...

:D

OMG I LOVE BEEF JERKY! ITS SO WRONG BUT SO RIGHT!

When I worked at Sainte Marie we made homemade beef jerky too!

It's wrong because its like dried up dead animal... but it's sooo yummeh.

I ate a whole big bag of peppered beef jerky last night - well I shared it with my dog. It was soooo good.

Beef jerky and beer are like meant to be.

Pffft....

Me neither. I do not have that sort of will-power at all. Like none. I believe life is about moderation and not preventing yourself from enjoying anything AND a ####### load of exercise on a daily basis...

burn off what you put in and don't over do it all the time.

I probably could use a diet. But you try working for a place that makes you amazing food every single day! YOU TRY IT! *drops into the fetal position and cries*

Well for some reason I gain wait just by thinking about food, and it doesn't help that my fiance weighs 116 pounds (seriously), so I am always on a diet. *sighs*

We finally got a chance to speak with the person captaining our boat yesterday. Apparently a 20 foot wave hit the boat at a bad angle and ripped off the rudder, meaning the boat was directionless from that point on. The swell was too great for the small outboard to overcome the waves.

We consider ourself lucky to have had David at the helm. From what the Coast Guard has explained he did absolutely everything right once disaster struck, in order to save himself and his friend and ensure that they were rescued. Their story of survival is just incredible to say the least. The boat capsized completely a few minutes after losing the rudder. It somehow righted itself in another huge wave from the other direction and they both miraculously hung on to the lines of the boat and when it flipped again they both ended up in the cockpit. In the middle of the night, a boat came upon them 100' away stayed for 2 hours and never called the coast guard or rendered assistance despite their SOS signals and flares across their bow. The C130 was heading back for Oahu, flew over top of them and the person sitting the rear spotted their LAST flare.

David is a member of the Army National Guard and an experienced sailor. From what the other crew member said, he was cool and calm the entire time. Barking out orders of how to take down the sails, stow objects, run flotables to the top of the mast in the event of another capsize, preparing the life raft with fuel to burn once they ran out of flares, rationing water and food in the event of a long stay at sea. He is just truly an incredible young man.

We are so thankful that Luke and David were able to return to their families safely. We are also so thankful for all the resources used by the Coast Guard, civil defense, Hilo fire department and all the private charter companies doing tours who asked all of their passengers to keep a look out for a wayward vessel. This enabled the Coast Guard to limit its search to Alenuihaha Channel rather than the other hundreds of miles of coast line on the Big Island. Without that the Coast Guard would have had to search a vaster area and decrease their chances of finding those guys.

We're thankful for a lot today. (L)
