Although i like cheese fries, i cant eat poutine. I think it's because of the gravy, it makes is wet/soaky/softy... :s

It took me quite a while to even try poutine. When Mel and I were dating she would go on and on about how great it was. My reaction was "Ummm gravy on fries? Cheese curds, ####### is that?". We don't have cheese curds here. At one point, I called every single market and cheese store in l.a. to find it. Mel just put a plate of it in front of me and made me eat it. I absolutely love it. It actually surpasses chilli cheese fries in my book.

When I have my interview in Montreal, having a legitimate Montreal poutine is either going to be the first or second most exciting aspect of my trip, depending on the outcome.

The weird thing is that everyone loves it but it looks like the most disgusting thing.

We're going to Toronto this weekend so if i find the motivation and courage, i might try again.

I'm sure my former roommates will be up for it after a few drinks or at 2am...

Totally, Laure! They LOOK disgusting. Even the word "curd" is kinda nauseating.

But in my limited poutine experience (i.e.: fast food poutines), they're so damn TASTY!

That is true "curd" is a terrible word...

The first time we tried, Chad was like "Fries? Good. Cheese? Good. Gravy? Good. Fries+cheese+gravy can only be good"

Oh guys. A good poutine (poo-tin is usually how I say it en francais) is a thing of beauty. Seriously. You know a good place if you all are in NDG area or know if it, in Montreal ouest is a place called the Green Spot.

Best. Poutine. Ever. And an awesome cheeseburger to go with.

It was one of my favourite places in the NDG area. Notre Dame de Grace...

my mother in law brought us cheese curds and poutine gravy last year, and it was really good. I ended up eating all the cheese curds out of the bag. It's really just cheese, but in little 'curds'. you could almost call them cheese balls. Of course some people might find that equally offensive.
