I was at Target today and I saw the cutest things.. they were advent calendar made of wood and they had little cubbyholes with doors too put the little surprises in... I couldn't find a pic of the one I really liked, it looked like a house with the 24th cubbyhole being the door...

here is a pic of one of the other ones...

Sometimes I wonder if it's worth it to post my thoughts about certain subjects here or to just keep my mouth shut.

I'm glad I decided to try to sell some of my furniture, rather than donate it / junk it. So far I've made over $80. B)

I really can't believe I'm leaving my apartment this weekend. It just feels so weird. I mean, there's MAJOR solace in knowing that the next time I'll be opening most of these boxes up will be in Washington D.C. (though who knows WHEN that will be...c'mon January scheduling...), but it kinda feels like I'm going into limbo until then. Ah well.

I agree. Today I posted something in a different thread about something that I posted just to post my thoughts and suddenly there was an influx of response that I dont particularly care to read about... and Im thinking uh... so the post was just to post. No need to tell me I was wrong... or to take sides about "my post"... because, frankly, its my own opinion. Oh well :P

And no, no need to post a response to this. This post was a post for no reason. :D

Do NOT attempt to eat week old bread sticks from Pizza Hut. Its like eating a rock.e]

I tried... it just became a warm rock

The only thing that works is a steamer. I put some bread in a steamer and it was nice and soft, until the moisture evaporated.

Ok, I would NEVER have thought of doing that in a million years. But the next time I have week old bread sticks I'll try it :P

... not a big fan of the poutine myself, but the New Yorker (Nov. 23rd issue) has a little section about poutine in New York. Some content available online: http://www.newyorker.com/online/2009/11/23...n_audio_trillin and http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2009/11...fa_fact_trillin

mmmmmm I love Poutine!! Haven't had it in a long time. I used to work for Zellers back home in the restaurant, ( yeah I know...silly wasn't I?) and that's the first time I think I had ever tasted any. It was good!!! I think they get the cheese curds from Montreal. I'd love to know what I could use down here so I could make some. Tim probably wouldn't eat it. He doesn't like onions in his gravy! I wonder what milk gravy would taste like.. Couldn't be any worse than the English fish and chips place we ate at in Victoria, when they used cheddar cheese instead. That was........different....

While in Switzerland, I've done "poutine" with mozzarella and St-Hubert BBQ sauce that my mom sent me. I guess it gave them an idea of what the mixture is supposed to be... Just found that: http://www.montrealpoutine.com/recipes.html

My VERY favourite poutine is fries, cheese curds and the red meat sauce. It's called an Italian poutine and it is SO, SO good...

I had some st. hubert sauce here last week -- a package of powdered mix. I made it. It was crappy. All that cornstarch in it to thicken it up grossed me out.

:(

You can also revive them in a damp paper bag and heat them in the oven or microwave. :)

I have no idea how to play bridge. But some of the ladies' bridge club here where I live get really snarky if I'm in the workout room while they're playing in the next room. That makes me not want to play. lol

How do you get away with no house chores?? I need to try that. lol

Yoga night tonight. Not sure how I feel about that. lol

I absolutely love poutine. We have been searching for a long time to find even cheese curds here in L.A. to no avail. Finally about 3 months ago found a great restaurant in Redondo Beach that serves poutine. It's owned and most of the staff is from Montreal. They insist upon correcting my pronunciation of poutine every time we're in there. I dont' know if it's a good or bad thing that they are less than 5 minutes from our apartment.
