Here's something I do like about Vancouver and the outlying areas: it's a lot easier to find your way around and it's much faster than driving in Houston. I really like Houston, but the streets are completely screwed up. There's one street that changes its name THREE TIMES and then later reverts to its FIRST NAME!

Just don't drive anytime during or near rush hour. :P

I found that out a while ago. HWY 1 can get crazy.

I must discuss your avatar with you!

If you want some neat pumpkin designs, try Pumpkin Glow. I really like the M1 Abrams Tank (PDF) pattern, but my wife doesn't. :P

That's an understatement. When we were taking classes, we would sometimes leave at 3. Rush "hour" starts at 3 and lasts until about 7pm.

I've been there! :D No goats, though. :crying:

You're right, it's pretty neat. I like Vancouver Island a lot, especially Victoria. If we were going to move anywhere, I'd definitely want to go there.

Victoria is definitely one of the places I would move to. It's lovely.

Goats on Roof:

Posting this one 'cause it's kind of fun to see the market again. Scroll past Decrepit Santa singing Knockin' on Heaven's Door (ironic, I know) to 2:30 to see the inside of the market.

BTW, I still have my Soopercard, along with my Kroger's card, my Tops card, my Albertson's card, my Hyvee card, my Wegman's card, my Jewel-Osco card, my Sobeys card,...

I was just cleaning out a junk drawer and found my Wegman's card!!!

Moving to Victoria would actually make visiting my wife's family a LOT easier. As it is right now, the ferry ride takes about an "hour-and-a-half" to get there from Horseshoe Bay. My wife's sister and her family live in Victoria and I think my inlaws are planning to move to Comox. They're on Gabriola Island right now, which is even more of a hassle.

Lived in Victoria for nearly 9 yrs. Awesome area. Except u get all the old slow drivers there, lol

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Of all the things in life I thought that I would never do, this weekend I am doing it.

I am judging in a children's beauty pageant. Yes picture J. Bennett-Ramsay.

My girlfriend at work is one of the heads of the committee and needed a hand. Sadly, while I would normally have total issues with a children's beauty pageant, I am oddly excited about this endeavor.

The girls have interviews tonight and then the actual pageant on Sunday.

Avatar wars

So we went to Sobeys - rather boring but we now have good snacks! I had forgotten they don't do the quarter for the shopping cart, so there is another piece of supermarket info.

I just had a bagel - it was good, normal. I also noticed they have Hunt's beans here now (they may have had them before - I only ever buy Heinz) - checked the label, no HFCS

Bought bicks dill pickles. You know it is actually MORE fun to buy stuff here that I missed than buying stuff in the U.S. that I had never tried wooo hoooo!

Interested to hear the report on your adventure MrsCat!

Be a saboteur, pick the ugliest, least talented one to win. This will make the parents believe that their kids should be ugly and talentless. We're through the looking glass on this one people.:lol:
