so hubby found out yesterday that he didn't get the day shift :crying:

I cried when he told me.... I am getting awfully tired of these long evenings/nights alone :(

I am also not getting enough sleep because of this stupid shift...

they did tell him that he is first in line when another day shift spot opens.. but that probably won't be for another couple of months..

I'm so sorry to hear about it. What's a few months here or there, before you know it the time will fly by and you'll be laughing. Marilyn, you're never alone, you got lots of kind and gentle folks who are here for you.(L)(L)(L)

Awww Marilyn, sorry to hear that!

And on a happy note, in the continuing saga of the apartment building chronicals....

As some of you will remember from the update last week, tomorrow we were scheduled for an 'apartment inspection'. This despite the fact that maintenance has been here 4 times - well 6 if you count the 2 times they couldn't come in because we had the door chain on - and we have only lived here 9 weeks.

Sooo I have been mad about this upcoming inspection and emailed the manager to let her know.

She wrote back that there will be no inspection before spring - and that both the maintenance people have been 'let go' - they are training new people. good.

Good stuff! BTW, how long before the new people are potty trained anyways. :bonk:

yeah I know it is only a few months.. but I have already been through a year of this shift.. :P

in other news, I think I have decided that instead of going to a B&B in Malibu we are going to go to Vegas... a suite at the Trump Tower hotel is only about 100 bucks a night for the days we want to go..

so I was going to give my mom a quick call before I had dinner and ended up having a 2 hour convo with my 17 year old brother because my mom wasn't home..

it was nice.. we haven't really talked since I moved here.. I think one other time we talked on the phone..

now it makes me want to go to Canada.. but maybe I will go in January or something

check out slickdeals.net and put in las vegas hotels (or whatever u choose)on the search area. Recall seeing some super duper hotel rates on there a while back

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Good morning. Marilyn, I'm so sorry to hear about your husband having to put in more time with the afternoon/night shift! I hope that he can move over to the day shift shortly. trailmix, sound like the maintenance people were the cause of a lot of angst in your building. Hopefully the new maintenance crew can fare better! Rainy and cool day here today.

Try Hotwire.com - you don't get to the pick the hotel, but you can't really go wrong with a 4 star or higher in Vegas. There are so many good hotel deals there. I love Vegas, I'm excited to go again, hopefully in the spring.

Good afternoon everyone. I'm enjoying my lovely stay in Canada. :) Actually, I've only been in Canada a few days hours days hours-days. My husband and I flew into Toronto on Friday evening. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving feast on Sunday, and then my Mum and I drove my husband to Buffalo so he could fly back home on Monday. So we decided to stay a few days and go shopping..... just like old times. LOL. We just got back a couple of hours ago, and I've been trying to catch up on VJ. Except my parents' internet connection sux BIG time, plus their mouse sux even BIGGER time. So I'm getting short on patience and wanting to log off. lol

It's a little chilly here. *shiver*
