90 degree weather, relative on the Husbands side twice removed, help with moving. I'll take the snow any day

Yeahhh... I hear ya. I've never even met her. I was pretty much roped into this too... My MIL comes up to me and says, "I bought our plane tickets to Phoenix for next weekend!" and I was like whoooaaa... what? Communication in this family is poor! A month ago they were saying, maybe some weekend in October, and then 3 weeks later there are plane tickets and I should have read minds to know the date and time! rawr.

I've been to Phoenix! Beautiful city, but bring chap stick! I noticed my lips dried up right away after getting off the plane.

Really? Ok cool! I keep like 4 different kinds in my purse on a regular basis, so I think I'll be good.

I heard I will get to see a cactus, so that makes the trip cool :P

The flight leaves tomorrow morning at 7, joy, then we are returning Sunday night at 9, more joy.

Haha, my friend picked me up at the airport and we were driving down the road and talking and all of a sudden I see a cactus and yell "CACTUS!" He thought I was a little strange.

People forget how much work puppies are! Well worth it though!! On a sad note, My Simba--a Sheltie--was originally my dog,and had him as a puppy--but had lived with my parents for years (Looked after him while I was on course in the Air Force, and just wasnt fair to take him back as he bonded with them so well) had to be laid to rest yesterday! His Kidneys shut down! Poor guy! Greatest dog I ever had, never caused a problem, and was always by ur side, one really didnt even need a leash (but always did) They bring one soo much joy, too bad it couldn't be for a longer time period

I've lost so many pets over the years, my heart goes out to you and your family (L) .

Marilyn's cool! :luv:

Sorry about your doggy Flames!! :( I'm going through a phase right now where I really want a puppy... but I'm allergic to dogs. I'm toying with the idea of getting a hypoallergenic one, but what If I react to it too? Then I'd have to make my husband give him up and he's a huge dog lover... it would be to hard for him. Its probably not a smart want.

Have any of you guys been to Phoenix? I'm going to Phoenix this weekend. Its only for 2 days but Its supposed to snow here this weekend so the idea of 90 degree weather sounds quite lovely. Unfortunately I'll be spending the weekend helping my husbands grandma's daughter move. Should be fun.

You should be OK with a hypoallergenic dog... my sister has severe dog/cat allergies and bad asthma, she has a mini scnauzer and cockapoo, both hypoall and she's perfectly fine with them :D

Have a fun weekend away! I've never been to AZ before

Really? That's encouraging! Bill loves golden retrievers so I kinda want a goldendoodle. Its just convincing him I'll be ok, which might take some work!

And thanks! :)

If you're allergic to animals - it's the dander you're allergic to which the fur causes. Hypo dogs have hair instead of fur. :)

In reference to the grocery bags... well, I've had idiots in both the U.S. and Canada. They must teach them to place heavier items on top of light -- and often soft -- items. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that you don't place a jug of milk on top of hamburger rolls.

I sometimes go the Adventure Game route when I've gone grocery shopping by myself. If they ask me if I want a jug of milk in this bag or that one, I tell them: "Neither. I'll just stick in my inventory." I get some odd looks at that comment.

Good morning all. Wee bit cold (-8) and overcast here at the moment. Alton Brown is on TV talking about deep frying turkeys. I guess if we are having a turkey dinner on Monday I better get around to getting the food for that!

For the love of God promise that the word turducken is never mentioned as part of your holiday feast.

So true, now hot dog buns are another matter. :P

Is H1N1 really as spread around in the US as people say it is?

I really don't understand why people are freaking out about it, since here there's hardly anyone with it.

Or are alot of people paranoid for no reason?

Like anything else--news peopleget bored covering "old" stuff, so one doesn't hear it all that much, but it is out there. And we are just now starting to get into the flu season. the normal flu period runs early Oct to April

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

What makes something newsworthy is that it is unusual. The odds of contracting African Hemorrhagic Fever in Toronto are pretty slim. Rest assured, if one case presents you can be sure that CTV will be all over it. If we follow the news, we should all be dying from West Nile Encephalitis. Now the odds of the Leafs winning The Stanley Cup...
