Wow it's gonna be hard for me to keep up with VJ now that I have a job and all  I definitely won't be around as much :crying: I can't go on VJ at work. It's good though, I really like everyone I've met so far. They are all quite nice and kind, so I'm happy!

I really have to say, that I enjoyed my 11 months off! I took advantage of the time to do things and explore my new town. I rarely complained that I was bored or whatever, I always found stuff to do and worked out alot. I can now look back and say I had a great year off :) Back to the real world now though!

I'm jealous that you got 11 months off! I only got 3 months off and I wish I could go back in time. There are definite pros to finding a job fast, but also definite cons!!

Glad you're liking your new job :)

Thanks! Yeah I figure the only other time I'll get a year off is mat leave (In Canada at least, not here LOL) so I wanted to enjoy the experience rather than be depressed about not working. Oh I told someone at work that mat leave in Canada is a year and they seriously didn't believe me!!

I have the best bosses in the whole world... they gave me a bonus today .. I didn't want to take it at first because they said they wanted to help me out because I mentioned we needed a new fridge etc.. I told him that I didn't talk about that because I wanted money but he said no that wasn't exactly why they gave it to me.. they said they gave it to me because I am a nice person and am great with the kids etc..

Wow Marilyn! What a lovely gesture! You're very lucky to work for such nice people! I'm so happy for you.

We had our first night of only 10 minutes of barking in the crate last night! I'm beat. It's been pouring here for 2 days now though, and guess who doesn't like going potty in the rain? Subsequently, we've had a few accidents in the house...*sigh* I forgot what a 24 hour job training a puppy is!

Enjoy your day, and weekend everyone!

People forget how much work puppies are! Well worth it though!! On a sad note, My Simba--a Sheltie--was originally my dog,and had him as a puppy--but had lived with my parents for years (Looked after him while I was on course in the Air Force, and just wasnt fair to take him back as he bonded with them so well) had to be laid to rest yesterday! His Kidneys shut down! Poor guy! Greatest dog I ever had, never caused a problem, and was always by ur side, one really didnt even need a leash (but always did) They bring one soo much joy, too bad it couldn't be for a longer time period

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I had Cheeze Whiz on toast this morning. Mmmmm I brought back a few favourite groceries with me last week and I've been munching away. I did see, but didn't pick up something in the deli, thinking I couldn't get it across the border anyway...but does anyone remember, or have eaten macaroni loaf? LOL It used to be a favourite of our family's. Gene's never heard of it. My Mom would buy it as a treat from the deli. I've never seen it here in Saint Louis.

Good morning all.

Flames, sorry about your dog, he sounds like a wonderful dog.

Carla, yes I remember it, I don't think that I have ever eaten it though. Speaking of food, we really need some groceries. It's really cold here though -11 right now. Maybe that's why so many people in Canada have a deep freeze, so they don't have to go out so much in the winter.

Flames, I'm so sorry to hear about your sweetie. It really does stink that dogs don't live a little longer.

Carla, we have macaroni loaf here in Indiana. As a kid, I used to stare at all of the different loafs at the deli because I thought they looked so weird - macaroni loaf, pickle pimento loaf, olive loaf, old fashioned loaf... come to think of it, maybe we're just the hub of strange deli meat. lol

That is SO nice Marilyn. I don't know you personally, but I think you're lovely. I can see why they like you.

Marilyn's cool! :luv:

Sorry about your doggy Flames!! :( I'm going through a phase right now where I really want a puppy... but I'm allergic to dogs. I'm toying with the idea of getting a hypoallergenic one, but what If I react to it too? Then I'd have to make my husband give him up and he's a huge dog lover... it would be to hard for him. Its probably not a smart want.

Have any of you guys been to Phoenix? I'm going to Phoenix this weekend. Its only for 2 days but Its supposed to snow here this weekend so the idea of 90 degree weather sounds quite lovely. Unfortunately I'll be spending the weekend helping my husbands grandma's daughter move. Should be fun.
