Today I think I have orientation training at Gold's Gym. I say I "think" I do because I am notorious for not remembering appointments. I would have thought that they'd have called to remind me. Would anyone else have expected that? Anyway, I guess I am going to have to dig through my purse and see if I still have the appointment card. bleh.

Good morning all!

Yes, I would have expected a reminder call - if - I hadn't paid the membership already. If you have already paid it then no, I wouldn't expect to hear from them

Your new car is pretty! Did you get it in black?

Well, it turns out they did call me last night while I was out. My bad for never checking for voicemail. lol

OMG, the workout session was brutal/good! I thought I was gonna throw up. :dead: I have another one next week.

The car is a midnight blue..... almost black, with a tan interior. And with tinted windows, of course. I don't know how anybody drives around here without them. It'd be like sitting in a solar oven. lol

Hey, wait a minute!! I didn't get a wedding present!

Okay, so this is really weird. I just made an appointment with a doctor because I have concerns about my blood pressure. Go figure. icon2.gif So I chose a doctor from the list on the local hospital's website.... because he's a Canadian. Just for an initial consultation so I can decide whether it's a fit or not. Anyway, I called the office and asked for an appointment. She took down all my information.... meaning name, address, insurance information icon2.gificon2.gif and said someone from that department would call me back within the next day or two to schedule an appointment. Does that seem normal to the Americans in the crowd.... or anyone with experience with the American system?

Normal to me.... the first time I made an appt (2 diff docs) They had to confirm my insurance before accepting an appt. Then they called me back to schedule

Ohhhhh. That makes sense, Jill. I went to a new dentist appointment a while back and they kept me waiting for ages. I finally went back to the desk to ask what was the hold-up and they told me they hadn't finished verifying my insurance yet. This was 1.5-2 hours later. I told them to cancel the appointment and I left. For that, and other reasons. The place was ICE cold and they had a huge screen with a movie playing where men were beating the ####### out of each other in a very graphic way. I thought that was very tasteless given that the place was full of kids and seniors. I never went back.

Oh gosh, how lovely  I guess this is what we have to get used to down here, not being accepted somewhere until our insurance is verified. No insurance, no service! That reminds me of no shirt, no service

Ugh speaking of dentists, I had made one 6 months ago for my son. Anyways I went up to Canada and completely forgot about it. They called me while I was up there and told me my son had an appointment at 4:00 that day, so I asked if I could reschedule because I was in Canada and forgot about it. The lady said: "No" and told me that because Ethan missed his appointment I was basically banned from that office. She even said that someone called me to confirm a few days prior and I said confirmed... well I most certainly did not confirm #######. :)

I mean how ridiculous is that? Whatever, he's still somehow on my mom's dental plan up there so we got him in and taken care of.

My dentist in Canada had a tv too right above the chair - I loved it! (except of course when the dentist leaned way over and blocked the view or the water sprayer thing misfired and got water all over my glasses!). Our dentist here doesn't have that - but one of the offices has a bird feeder attached to the window so I get to watch birds instead!

Krikit, that is normal for me too - I call to make an appointment with a new doctor and they tell me someone will call me back after they confirm that they accept my insurance - and then they tell me how much 'extra' I need to pay over and above what my insurer covers. I have an ongoing argument right now with the gynecologist. They said I needed to pay extra after they talked with my insurance company - but the insurance company says that I don't- and the difference between their price and the negotiated insurance price is what they charged me so they are basically violating their agreement with our insurer.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
