Good morning. Bringing my son to the fair today... I love American fairs, I don't know why they're just so hearty.

Hearty

Well I hope you both have a great day out!

Good morning all!

What is this "hockey" you all speak of?

I understand that it is a diaphanous pretext to commit suicide by poutine. The Habs have won 23 Stanley Cups, let the rest of us suffer in peace. One more thing, GO LEAFS GO!

I like the leafs, and you know being a fan of the leafs teaches one to deal with let downs often. Nothing can ever get me down, I'm a leafs fan, I'm used to being knocked over and crushed several times a season! But we still have hope every year.

My son doesn't even know the leafs anymore, which is sad because we used to watch games together. It's all about the flyers for him now. :(

We all know it's all about the flames.

Oh and we got our sticker for our vehicle this week - so importing our U.S. vehicle in to Canada is complete!

Bringing a U.S. vehicle in to Canada is not as easy as taking a Canadian vehicle to the U.S. - the good thing is they have a website dedicated to it which is really well done. We were also, probably, technically supposed to pay G.S.T. on our truck, since we have only owned it since June and technically you are supposed to have owned it for a year, however they did not charge us for that at the border - so that was nice!

Next thing is insurance. You would think this was our first time getting insurance in Canada

What do they want? Alberta driver's abstract, driver's abstract from Florida, letter of experience from the Canadian insurance company we used before we moved, letter of experience from our Florida insurer.

Well I requested a letter of experience from our Canadian insurer before we left Canada - I never received it. I requested it again a few weeks ago - still no letter

Anyway, i'm going to shop around a bit, but I mean really.

I was hoping Fleury would have made the Flames!! Ya never know he still might! he may have to head down to the minors for awhile like Claude Lemieux did last yr! Guess he is holding a conference on Monday regarding his plans!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Yeah I don't even really follow hockey (but my Husband does) and I was kind of shocked when I heard this.

He was in the best shape of his life too, BUT one doesn't recuperate at age 41 as they do in there younger days! Soo much wasted talent! But he has had soem serious issues to deal with, pretty certain he was mixed up with that Graham james controversy!! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graham_James_(ice_hockey) belive he played on the same team with Sheldon kennedy. But he has refused to answer any questions about it!!

I liked Fleury too. When he was on his game, he had a Stan Mikita-esque quality about him. I think a great many people wanted to hear from him about Graham James and that might still be gnawing at his conscience. He's abused his body royally over the years but I thought he turned it around. 41 is pretty old, just ask Chris Chelios.

Honestly, I think the real reason that he quit is that the Flames were going to trade him to the Leafs.

I got called for jury duty... I feel so American now!

What is it with all this jury duty stuff! I have never known so many people who have been chosen for it! Even my BIL in Nebraska was asked a couple of months ago.

I have never, not once, been called for jury duty. Which is a good thing since I wouldn't do it

I got called for jury duty a few months back... I think I had to call this number and answer the questions it asked.. and if you didn't qualify you got a pin number that you had to put on the paper and mail back.. at least that is what I think I did

I don't think you can actually go, can you Nev? Because you have to be a US citizen I think, same as voting?

Trailmix, you wouldn't do it? But how would you get out of it, you'd need a really solid reason
