Thanks Trailmix and Krikit.

Oops, I thought you were in Florida.

Even when I'm in Vancouver or Montreal I use miles and Fahrenheit.

They make more sense to me...distance feels shorter and temperatures warmer.

:star:

Yes, we moved back to Calgary in August!

So where is the new yoga thing happening? Or would you rather not say?

hmm, so my check card expires at the end of this month and I still hadn't received my new one so I called today and the guy informed me that they mailed it out on August 13th...

now first I am thinking that was around the time we were on vacation and we put our mail on hold but the post office said they didn't have any mail for us... but then the guy from the bank asked me to verify my address and I start to say it and he stops me and asks if this is a new address and I say no and he says they have a different address listed on the account  so I have to update the address but doing so now as deactivated my current card.. so I am without a card for 5 to 7 days :P

I have no idea what happened...

so the hubby was pretty sure today is the day he will interview for the day shift position.. he is a little more optimistic now because they whittled down the number of people eligible for the position to 4 guys...

i really hope he gets it.. these long evenings and nights alone are starting to get to me.. well they have gotten to me already

I am watching this really cute mini series called Lost in Austen.. it is about this woman who loves Pride and Prejudice and one day she finds herself in that world...

Oh cool! I read the book "Confessions of a Jane Austen Addict" - it was very enjoyable. I didn't know they had made it into a move or mini series!

Good luck to your husband as well - hope it all goes exactly as he wants.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Good morning! Marilyn, I hope David is successful in his interview! It's really hard when people work shiftwork, sleeping and eating gets all screwed up, and time with family is sure impacted. I can imagine you miss him...

Yes trailmix, I'm off to see my parents in Toronto! I'm driving this time, and leaving next Wednesday morning. My daughter and her boyfriend are flying in from Saskatoon as well, so it will be a lovely ten days away!

Enjoy your day everyone! I'm don't know that I'll be here tomorrow, so I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Phil has stumbled across and interesting job lead in Houston. We'll be moving if he gets a good offer. Frankly, I'm a little intimidated. From what I've read, Texas is pretty anti-immigrant. I'm not pleased about the idea of having a driver's license with "temporary visitor" written across it and I'm wondering what other obstacles being an immigrant in Houston might cause.

Whoo! I'm cross-eyed now. :wacko::lol:

Good morning everyone. A bit of shopping to do today. And I really should go for a walk or something. Shake off some of these troubles that weigh me down.

I hear you krikit, just thinking this morning that we need to go out and do something fun.

Wow Carla, ten days of fun and frivolity in Canada woot!

Marilyn, when I heard about your card that is the first thing I thought of, what address did they have?? Bit concerning, I would definately call them back and ask, just to make sure it was one of your old addresses.

Wow, I'm kind of scared of moving to Texas too. But on the bright side, at least you're there legally right :(?

And why on earth do license's say "temp visitor'' anyway? Those aren't on the CDN ones.

Houston is a great city, Austin too. They are not anything like your stereotypical cities taht you would imagine from the media.

From the Texas Driver License Division website, it looks like driver's licenses for all permanent residents have the "Temporary Visitor" notation unfortunately. I wish Canadian's were expempt, I'd just show them my Canadian passport.

On the bright side, I've looked up the cost of living in Houston and it's 14% lower than Atlanta. Companies pay a little more on average too.
