I know how you feel Peachey! I'm so allergic to cats its unreal. If I get within a foot of one I break out in hives and can't breathe. The worst is the eyes though! Isn't it the worst? You just want to scratch them for hours!

On a happy note, I'm really excited today because I get my new HD Zune Mp3 player tomorrow. I've had it ordered for weeks now! It FINALLY comes out tomorrow.

And Brad Paisley on Friday! :star:

there is a really neat product on the market called Allerpet. This is supposed to help people who have allergies to cats and dogs. It is a liquid that you put on a cloth and rub all over the animal. It is supposed to help counteract the allergens. There are also 'allergen free' cats, although they can be quite expensive. Basically they are hairless so their coats feel like suede. The breeds are Cornish Rex, Devon Rex and Sphynx. A colleague of mine had a Devon Rex because her daughter was highly allergic even though she loved cats. This cat solved the problem and everyone was happy.

We have 2 Siberians which are suppose to be for cat allergy suffers! Works for my wife who is allergic to "normal" cats! She had a slight reaction at first, but nothing compared to other cats! A Siberian starts around $500 My ex was allergic to cats as well, lol and we tried allerpet, didnt work for her!! I actually used to bath those cats, man, that sure was fun, not!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Good morning! We got a bit of rain this morning and it has cooled things down. It's also watered our grass seed which seems to be coming up nicely! Enjoy your day.

yeah yeah, i'm late to the thread...but it's unusual for termites to be up in the attic (subterranean ones, that is. if you got formosa, eeek!)

I googled formosa but I still don't understand what you mean.

I'm not quite sure why he was in the attic. Unless they're looking for other insects or something so that they can say the problem originated with something else so they can get out of their contract? He asked who our pest control company was and my husband told him we didn't have one. He said he was very surprised because the house is immaculate..... no signs of spiders or ants or anything. That's what makes me think he was looking for other bugs too.

Huggles! A beautiful wedding pic!!! I love that you chose red and white Canadian colours.

And, ugh. The cat allergies and the eyes. I almost went bonkers whenever I would stay at my parents' house and they still had the cat. It liked to sleep on the guest bed so I would always wash all the blankets and comforters before I slept in there, and then lock it out of the room. lol. I think what drove me more bonkers than the allergy was the fact that my Mom would tell me it was all in my head. Yes, it IS in my head, Mom. Thank you! :bonk:

I've tried Allerpet! It actually does help a little. For someone with a more mild allergic reaction It would probably do wonders, but for me it just helps a little. I've tried that, I've tried special shampoos on the pet and in the house, I've tried several different kinds of pills, creams, eye drops (for me to take!) that are supposed to help, but they don't do much. I have an aunt who claims to have a hypo-allergenic dog and I react to him just as bad as any other dog. Cats are the worst but dogs aren't much better. My in laws have an adorable golden retriever that I always try to pet and play with and I always pay for it later. You can't ignore a cute animal when they want your attention! It sucks. I've heard about injections you can get that make you more tolerant... I'm a little skeptical of that though.

Thanks! Originally I wanted to do it red white and blue, to combine Canada and the US in a funny way, but I was overruled. We ended up staying with blue, but we did a lighter shade that's more of an aqua than a deeper blue.

That's funny! My mom is totally opposite! When she realized I was allergic she decided it was her life mission to keep me away from cats at all times. I think that made things worse! I have no tolerance for them it at all. When a cat is in the same house I can tell when I walk in the door.

hehehe well, I guess dinner at my house is out for you guys . . . .you wouldn't make it very far before your eyes would close and you'd start to sneeze. Five cats will do that to ya. :)

Ok that made me laugh

I gave my cat a bath twice, she wasn't dirty or anything, just going through a shedding stage and I figured it was a good idea. Ok she HATES it. It was a disaster. So the next year I decide it's a good idea, guess I only had a vague memory of the previous years fiasco.

I will never ever ever bathe my cat again.

This made me laugh...I will approach a snarling pitbull and convince him to roll over and let me rub his belly, but will NOT even try to pick up a cat lol. Don't get me wrong, I actually really love cats and really wish they didn't want to kill me, but I've been bitten and scratched too many times to go there again...at least for now. I can only imagine you looked like you'd been attacked by the Tazmanian Devil by the time that cat was done with you and your bathing intention.

My husband is also very allergic to cats, which is unfortunate because he really wants one. Maybe when I develop the bravery for mass scratching fests again, we'll look into getting one of those Siberian kittehs.
