Good Morning Friends,

I was Surprised how fast our first NOA came!

We sent in our completed packet on 6/02/09 and received our letter of 1 year approval on 6/11/09!! Hubby's green card was extended.

Next, my husband got his notice to appear for biometrics. It's soon. July 9th at 11 am here in Baltimore.

My question is, what happens now?

I saw on some posts that people have made an INFO pass appt on the day of their biometrics to get the stamp in their passport for the one year. Is that what we should do?

Hubby is eventually, during his 10 year green card holding status going to apply for N400, so we're through the first hurdle, but I see that a lot of you are still waiting for the cards in the mail and frustrated.....

We filed through Vermont

Cheers!

Linda

The stamp in the passport is mainly for people who travel. They either haven't got the extension letter or don't want to deal with the airport hassle with the letter when they return to USA; a stamp in the passport brings no questions. If you have no plans to travel before you get the green card, you don't need the passport stamp.

Next step is just to wait. I just joined you in that yesterday!

Hi Linda,

Otto und Karin and ELW have given you correct advice. The I-551 is given to those who didn't get NOA, or if their case takes more than 1 year and their previous extension expires or according to recent USCIS if you got approved and didn't get your GC ( I think within 4-8 weeks). Most IO (Immigration Officers) at the USCIS field office where your infopass appointment happens, don't give out stamp, some do, it totally depends on the IO.

I did try to get stamp but the IO didn't give to me stating that since i got NOA, he can't give me stamp.

However your husband can do an early biometric without any problem as I and others here on VJ have done it, the folks at ASC don't stop you as long as you have the biometric appointment letter.

Good Luck to your husband.
