Hello everyone. I'm one of those people that hired a law firm to us with our visa journey. I’m a get a little scatterbrained when it comes to completing paperwork and the like so I opted for the lawyer. I’m living with my wife right now in her country, so it’s also easier to have someone local in the USA to handle the correspondence.

Our I130 has been approved by USCIS, and we have paid fee fills, submitted AOS and DS230 to Attorney. Back to waiting around and trying to stay calm. So far it’s been about 4 ½ months since we filed the I130. Progress seems reasonable.

I’m a little disappointed in the level of detail reported to me by our Lawyer on our progress and they aren’t very proactive, I have to pry for progress information. I have been checking the NVC IVR and recently the recording doesnt seem to match what the lawyer has told me.

Anyone here have any stories on going to NVC behind lawyers back? Just wondering if that might be detrimental to the overall approval process.

I’m missing a few dates on when things happened and I was thinking of calling the NVC operator for some detail, although I wouldn’t consider my situation an emergency yet. I’m just trying to get an estimate on our approval so I can plan a trip home to deal with some personal business in the USA.

Overall I guess a 4.5-month wait isn’t bad so far…but we all know how frustrating waiting in the dark can be!

Good luck to All.Qiix

I would deffinetely call NVC. It's your case and you have every right to know what is going on with it. I am in the same situation with my lawyer, feeling like I'm bugging him just to ask him a question. I call NVC all the time now with questions and I'm just using the lawyer to look over all my paperwork. Have you called NVC and given them your e-mail address? Just my advice...call them! Good luck!
