How long after the oath can I get a new social security card (One that does not have the not valid to work without DHS authorization written) and a passport? What documents have to be brought?

Thanks!

You need to take your certificate into your nearest SSA office and complete a SS5 form. They will photocopy the certificate and update their records and a new card will be mailed to you. You could have had the restriction removed as soon as you got your greencard there was no need to wait until you became a citizen.

I visited the SSA office on the way home from my oath ceremony to update my SSA records, but I already had a unrestricted SSN card.

As for the US Passport, I applied at my local US Post office, just took all the forms and my certificate and the fee and they check everything and sent it all off to be processed. I had my Passport back within 10 days and the certificate came back a few days later.

Hope this helps

You should be able to get an unrestricted SS card as soon as you can show them your green card. You don't need to wait for citizenship.

But after you become a citizen, you should update that status with them too, so if you've made it this far, you might find it easier to wait until you're a citizen and take care of everything in one trip.
