Hi,

I am French and my fiancè is Algerian (living in the US).

We are going to visit his parents in Algeria in few weeks.

I am flying from France and my fiancè from the US

I would love to bring some gifts with me for them but I really have no clue!

I thought about some French food but I am scared they will not accept it because is not Halal.

I thought about some perfumes?

What are some good gifts for a traditional Algerian family?

And sorry but my fiancè has no ideas...actually he is too busy at work to even talk to me on the phone!

Many thanks!

Depends on the age and what the parents do. Is the Dad a business man? Then I suggest a subtle but classy tie. For the women lotions and real perfumes are appriciated. For little kids coloring books, crayons or some fun stickers. For older children say preteen to teens a nice journal with blank pages and colorful pens or a color pencil set if a girl or nice pens if it's a boy.

Esalaams,

I live in Algeria so I would take: soap enough for everyone (tradition here), perfume, makeup and beauty products for mother/sisters. As the Egyptian said above perfume (but also makeup) is useful alot and it's fake here and expensive. Not usually to bring gifts for men, buuuut if you are really trying the for father would be nice a book prehaps about Islam if they traditionalists, some useful tool or little gadget.
