I have a question. I am a british citizen and am engaged to an american citizen. We have filed the I-129. The question is...my fiance is 6 months pregnant and the dr just put her on medical leave until after the baby is born. When I go for the interview, she will not meet the income requirements on the I-134. She has in the previous two years of income but with her on medical leave and having no or little income coming in this year she won't. Her father has offered to be a co-sponsor and I will bringing over a substantial amount of money to the US myself. As anyone been through this? Will they accept a co-sponsor and/or the fact that I can self sponsor myself? Thanks for any info...

London is one of the few consulates who have in the past entertained the concept of self-sponsorship

YMMV

Do you know what amount they consider sufficient to self sponsor?

I would assume 3X the required income for the size family... I hope others will chime

I know LON is a difficult consulate to contact, but maybe there is something of value on the website

YMMV

London have allowed self-sponsorship in the past and I believe they still do. I had to do it in Jan 2008 because my husband started a new job one week before my interview and he couldn't get a new I-134 and supporting docs to me in time. However, they refuse to say how much is enough and there is no set minimum amount - they will determine each case on its own merits. If you have a co-sponsor lined up as well you shouldn't have any problems.
