I am just starting the K-1 visa process. I wanted to hire an attorney to make sure everything was done right and I don't screw anything up. Has anyone out there used easyfiancevisa.com? They seem to be cheaper than anyone else, but also seem to be fairly new to the game. They have been very prompt and through in the conversations I've had with them. I know they're a main advertiser on this site....anybody have personal experience with them?

Filing the I129F is easy (if u read n follow the guides here).. alot of people in this forum can give u advice AND ITS ALL FREE.. and its better if u do it YOURSELF because you will LEARN about the whole process (which i believe will help when your fiancee's interveiw will come)

GOODLUCK N GOD BLESS U

PINOY And We know that GOD causes all things to work together for good to those who love GOD, to those who are called according to HIS purpose Romans 8:28

PINAY WE can do everything through HIM who gives US strength Philippians 4:13

Dont hire an attorney for this. Everything is on the guides...and the original I129F is a 2 page form.

Attorneys will take all your information and fill it into the 2 page form....while you could do it yourself, a lot more accurately, I might add.

Lawyers love straight forward 129Fs because they are easy. But they charge the same legal fees they would charge for real lawyer work (ie Legal Research, Legal Writing, Going to Court and Arguing, Going before a Judge)....hire an attorney for those items, worthy of the hefty legal fee....but please dont give them the plesure of charging the same legal fees for filling out a 2 page form you could do yourself in an evening, and one which is if teh same complexity as a home depot job app, as Gary once so eloquently put it.

01/21/10 - AOS Approved

01/19/10 - EAD Card Received

01/16/10 - AP received

11/18/09 - AOS - NOA1

10/30/09 - Civil Marriage

10/24/09 - Entry/I-94 start

09/04/09 - K1 issued

07/15/09 - K1 - NOA2

02/27/09 - K1 - NOA1

02/24/09 - Filed I-129F

Hiring an attorney will not make sure everything is right. OMG no.
This cannot be said with 100% certainty! An EXCELLENT attorney can be worth his weight in gold.
You can do this yourself.
We don't know this, and we can't know this in accordance with the information that the OP has provided. Gary, approximately how many times have you been asked/notified not to provide blithe, sweeping advice that can have SERIOUS negative implications for those who read and swallow it as though it is gospel truth?

So TRUE!

On the flip side, a bad lazy attorney can delay your case, make numerous mistakes, and basically make this process a living hell. No attorney is going to give your case the care that you would give it yourself. You are just another stack of papers to an attorney.

Very SMART a good attorney can do the job right the 1st time! And at a fair fee.

We hired an attorney and so far no regrets. We still love looking at VJ though! For something this important I wouldn't go any other way however than gettng one. Hoping nothing pops up in the process, but if anything does, having a good attorney at the ready will be nice. Bit of a safety net if anything. I would agree with those that have mentioned it though that every case is different and really only you can decide if you need one or not. There are good ones and bad ones just like anything else so do your research on the attorney before taking the jump if you do decide to go that route.

Good Luck!

I have been using visa lawyers and I have loved everything they have done so far, its taken a lot of stress away, the only thing is that they cost $2000! However we paid in installments so it was much easier.

I found the process with mine very easy, they have all the information and extra, they sat down and answered all our questions. And they have done a lot for what we paid them I think. They must of sent us 100 emails to get all of our information and places of work (in our lives) all of the evidence of photos together, plane ticket receipts, and all family details.

My fiancee is in the military so that was a big problem also, and they have been great with that as he has had to leave the Navy now, switch residence, jobs, and income.

Also received recently, health advice pre medical, and ways to prepare for my interview. I realise I could of done the visa on my own with this website but I wanted that higher chance of success.

I know I am probally going to be slammed for backing a lawyer but thats just my story :)

Another example is how many of you pay 75-100 bucks an hour to have someone fix your car when you can learn how to do it yourself, then you have to trust your mechanic that he is not screwing you. In my line of work I can walk out to a multi-million dollar electronic system and know exactly what screw to turn so to speak. But that took years of training.

Sure, the immigration process looks a lot simpler to me now, but at first, it was a nightmare with countless hours of study, one error could cause major delays and even the loss of your fees to the USCIS. Yes, I had to gather the proof, but was directed as to which proof I needed and whether it was acceptable or not. Did have enough common sense to determine if my attorney also knew which screw to turn. Getting my intended here was too important to me then to try and learn all this stuff myself, and as pointed out, there is a lot to learn.

In regards to saving money, if you go to any building supply store, can pay over twice as much to have even a simple board installed and you pay that with post tax dollars that can add another 20-40% to that cost, if you buy it on time, that board can cost you over twice the installed cost, after taxes so you end up paying six times that cost of that board. Know a lot of people that paid 2000/3000 bucks to have their car fixed with the same problems they had before they started.

It was a lot easier for me to learn how to build a home, took a year off, did everything right and paid off the construction loan in two years. Yeah, people told me I am losing one heck of deduction for mortgage interest, but just replied, would rather give just 30% of that money than 100% of it to a bank. Wife and I also decided to have a large wedding reception to share our joy with our family and friends, even put on the invitations, please don't bring a gift, we just want you. Ha, that didn't stop them, anybody need an extra toaster?

Regarding that 1,500 bucks we spent on an immigration attorney, but my wife and I agreed to it, only a one time expense, do not plan on ever doing this again with immigration.

When I first got on the USCIS site that I had to learn about, my head was spinning.

A lawyer will always be attentive to you during your initial conversations until the point where you send the money. Then they are difficult to reach and generally unavailable to help you. Follow the K1 guide and ask questions here.

No issues with my attorney in this regard. Just depends on who you get as an attorney and what research you did beforehand. Your dr, mechanic, accountant any srevice provider could be this way. Isn't just an immigration attorney. I've been able to call and email at any time. Have gotten responses to emails I sent at the end of a work day, thinking I would get a response the next day but sure enough within an hour or so I have a detailed response to my questions. Never had to hunt him down to get answers I needed. Not to mention it is nice to have a professional handling the case. Not all cases are the same so a blanket statement that everyone should get advice here and they are good to go is not the best route. Look at your situation, and then determine if you need one.
