Great thread guys - i'm socking it away for next Nov - I wasn't intending on sending affidavits initially either - they can RFE me if needed. I have the usual other stuff and nothing to hide!

If affidavits come up - what's best - people related to you or non-relatives? Don's Mum has a different last name and certainly even my daughter has a different last name - I mean - she does live in the same house as us - she could provide the most honest proof!

I think I saw something where they said anyone you have who writes a letter, could actually be asked to come in ? Is that true????

My wife and I still have the same lawyer we used for the original CR-1 since he was so great at everything he did. We just gave all of our mortgage docs over, our lease for the apartment from the year before, then just copies of shared accounts and bills like that. We went to Biometrics a few weeks ago and now are just waiting for the interview. I'm positive we'll get one cause the bum in Montreal has been screwing our case every chance she gets but we've got a ton of pictures and everything if needed :) Good luck!

My wife has been back since June 5, 2007. Now we're just livin' man, L I V I N :)

We filed at the beginning of the month and I didn't include any affidavits.

I just sent along things like leases we've had together, letters from DMV with addresses that matched, financial records, joint loans, joint tax returns, insurance, cards mailed to us from my family and his, things like that.

I'm sure my package looked like a lightweight compared to most, but I sent along the things they asked for, and if they want more, I can get more.

Our luck, we send along all the proof...they look at a few things and stick it under their desk until they feel like approving it

I'm not trying to hijack the thread, I promise, but just have a quick question for all of you who have posted: Did you provide evidence of your relationship for the entirety of your marriage, or just since you moved here to the US?

I'm filing in September, and don't really have much evidence from the good ol' Canada/US long distance part of things, so I'm hoping it's not going to be needed!

Anyways, back on subject, this is what I have so far:

-Credit card statements from almost every month since I moved here (in my name only, but his is on there as of this month.)

-Copies of my insurance policy stating him as the beneficiary

-A few copies of receipts, etc from his schools that he's been attending since I moved here.

-random pictures taken throughout the years.

-Auto insurance policy with me added a few months after arriving here.

Right now, I'm working on getting a copy of my orders to my station here in CA, and a copy of our housing agreement through the military with both our names on it. For some reason, it's actually been easier thus far to prove I live here, rather than him! It doesn't help that he doesn't have a credit card, and the old bank account we ended up closing when we moved. I think we're going to skip the affadavits unless they ask for them.

I think they are just interested in stuff, it seems, to do with your marriage since you have been here in the US. I don't think anything before that, at this point, matters to them.

I made an info pass appointment about the whole address thing, as Len suggested to me. I'm going this Friday to make sure they have my proper address. I'm not going to have this whole process delayed because they are a bunch of dummies.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

C'mon, obviously we have a legit marriage, I had sex with the dude, didn't I?!!!

Oh, well if that's all I have to prove....

Yes, it says on the form:

Such persons may be required to testify before an immigration officer as to the information contained in the affidavit.

Not really something that anyone should be worried about unless they are being investigated for fraud.
