We went out for dinner tonight. Joe had a steak and I had cabbage rolls - not bad at all. Big servings though so I brought half of mine back and Joe will probably eat it tomorrow. They also make these multi layer cakes - they are humungous! We purchased a slice of their strawberry shortcake to bring home and will probably be eating cake for the next 3 days, hehehe!

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

We went up to my in-laws' tonight bec my nephew (in-law) was staying for the night. MIL served burgers and fries, as the little redhead devil wanted it.

Anyway, when dinner was ready, he ran to the kitchen, plopped on the nearest seat, all excited for his burger. I went, aren't you going to wash your hands. He looks at me with big, wide, innocent eyes, burger in hand, and goes "its too late now... I touched the burger!". He then starts wolfing down his burger and suddenly stops and tells me in a super serious voice, "besides, I will wash my hands after." LOL! I love my little nephew.

I did eat a bit of salad to try and offset the bad food ;)

I sauteed frozen spinach with garlic and dried herbs and added marinara sauce and ricotta cheese to form this gooey but yummy spinach sauce to toss pasta in!

I did the corned beef, cabbage, carrots and potatoes last night. Was very good. I don't know why I don't serve corned beef more than once a year. It's so good! Tonight pork ribs and rice.

I haven't locked down lunch or dinner yet, but they will definitely be MEATY.

Crossposted from my blog:

It’s that time of year again! Today, March 15, is the 8th annual International Eat A Tasty Animal for PETA Day! In commemoration of some of the really stupid and offensive things that PETA has done to advance their agenda, seven years ago, Meryl Yourish started his own “outrageous publicity stunt”:

PETA has started yet another offensive ad campaign. This one really reaches bottom—they are using Holocaust terminology, quotes, and pictures to liken the “slaughter” of animals to the slaughter of the Jews by the Nazis.

I’ve already received a letter from a child of Holocaust survivors who is, of course, extraordinarily offended. But here’s the thing: PETA is known for this kind of outrageous publicity stunt—and that’s what it is, an outrageous publicity stunt—and while I am also offended and outraged, there is absolutely nothing we can do that will make PETA change their ad campaign. I’m sure they knew exactly what they were doing, have a plan in mind, and, if they withdraw the campaign, will do it according to their deadlines and their decisions.

So let’s make up our own outrageous publicity stunt. Let’s designate Saturday, March 15th[, 2003], as International Eat an Animal for PETA Day. Everybody set the date on your calendar, and either go out and enjoy a great steak, or cook one at home. Or cook up some chicken or fish or anything else that PETA wouldn’t want you to eat.

The tradition has kept up every year since. I’ve already started with sausage, egg and cheese on an english muffin for breakfast. I’m not sure yet what is for lunch and dinner, but I bet it’s going to be meaty.

It doesn’t just have to be meat, either. Eggs, dairy… “anything that a hard-core vegan won’t eat works,” says Yourish. “And frankly, if you’re a hardcore vegan and still hate PETA, have some tofurkey in our honor.”

Went to dinner at the local Irish pub for a belated celebration of my MIL's birthday -- born on St. Patrick's day.

I had something called a Seafood Rachel, which I thought was fish and chips... but it was battered fish sandwhich... on some dark bread with coleslaw and mayo. It was bizarre but pretty good. I actually ate the whole thing :P

With or without the chicken, that sounds pretty good. Do let us know how it turns out! :D

Oh em gee! It was absolutely deeelicious!

My husband loves franks red hot sauce and misses buffalo wings but he said that this really does hit the spot if you're a vegetarian. If you're not you could add the chicken the recipe calls for and I bet it's just as good... maybe even better. :D
