BBQ! We put our new BBQ together a couple of days ago. Night before last my Husband decided he was going to make 'asian burgers'. So he used ground beef and a satay flavouring mix from a package (just a small bit), and also added minced onion to the beef.

He mixed up a concoction for a spread to put on the buns, peanut butter, mayo and assorted other stuff. Topped it all off with a slice of grilled fresh pineapple, some cucumber slices and fried onions.

It was really really good! Had fried bean sprouts as a side.

Last night I just BBQed some tbones and had potatoes and salad with that.

Last night I make kabobs with red pepper, mushrooms, zucchini and chicken breast. I marinated it in a sesame lime sauce and then grilled them on the bbq. I also grilled sweet potatoes on the bbq as a side. it was delish :)

There were a few casualties on the bbq tho.

Tonight is date night :)

Tonight i'm trying a recipe I found in Sobey's magazine - looks good so far!

Sautéed Dijon Chicken With Peaches

The only thing I changed really is that I used a different type of mustard and chicken breasts.

I tried a new recipe from a Bisquick cookbook we picked up on sale - I did modify the recipe somewhat to accommodate what I had on hand so I will write what I did - it really does live up to its name, though!

Impossibly Easy Vegetable Pie

prep time 15 minutes (actually was shorter than that) Bake: 35 min; stand: 5 min.

2 cups frozen broccoli and cauliflower (thawed and drained)

1/2 chopped onion

1/3 cup chopped sweet peppers (I used a mixture or orange and red but you can use any colour)

1 small can of crab meat

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1/2 cup Bisquick mix

1 cup milk (I used skim)

1 tbsp Mrs. Dash's seasoning

3 eggs

Heat oven to 400 F. Spray bottom and side of 9" pie plan (I used a quiche dish) with cooking spray. Mix broccoli, cauliflower, onions. pepper, crab meat and cheese together and put into pie pan or dish. Beat eggs, add the milk, beat in the bisquick mix and then evenly pour over mixture in pie pan.

Bake uncovered 35 minutes or until golden brown and toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Let stand 5 minutes, then cut and serve.

I served this with a tossed salad and it really was good! You can use fresh vegetables as well and try different types of cheese. It is kind of like a quiche without the crust.

I've made that before Kathryn, I think I got the recipe off a box of bisquick

So the chicken last night, I really liked it, so did my Husband, but we both agreed the sauce needs more of....something - not spicier - maybe just umm bolder, so I will probably play with that recipe because it was really good.

Tonight, stirfry, I cut up the meat yesterday and put it in a marinade, we will have noodles with that.

Varba and I went to Cracker Barrel for lunch today (and ate breakfast), so we're just having chicken corn soup and salad for supper.

The mom in law's back from Taiwan, so I'm not going to be cooking much anymore.

There's drumsticks thawing so I guess it's drumsticks and something else for dinner.
