I made 350 venison dumplings on Sunday, steamed. Put about 320 of them in the freezer.

Now THAT sounds yummy! I miss my son's hunting gifts. I love wild meat. I made my own sausages and rendered down fat for lard for baking. Dumplings sound very good.

I made a beef pot pie last night with the leftover roasted beef. It was very yummy.

Gene is going to a hockey game tonight with the guys and they're eating out before the game so I'm on my own.

I might just go out!

SUSHI!!! *drool*

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. I'm hoping to have sushi and sashimi tomorrow night.

so hubby called in "sick" today so we might go to the Soupplantation....

just to clarify, he didn't call in sick so he could go to the Soupplantation

You know..... my husband has never called in sick during the entire time I've known him. He never gets sick. Though he did get the sniffles after his last flu shot.

Wow. I'm impressed. Do you have a recipe you can share? I wouldn't use venison, mind you. I'm not a big game-meat person.

I've got the tomato-beef stock in the fridge for the fat to harden so I can remove it. I'll start that process in an hour or so. We've got to drop one of the cars off in Daytona tonight for servicing tomorrow. They didn't have a loaner available this time so that's a bit annoying. We'll probably go to Sam's afterward. Anyway, we'll have the soup before we leave. Still cool here.

Oh, I loved stuffed peppers! Much like cabbage rolls eh? I think so anyway....

Last night I had an orange, a granola bar, and some microwave popcorn for dinner. Gene had some yummy food prior to the game.

Tonight we'll finish up the beef pot pie with a salad.

What WAS for dinner??

Hmm... where to begin.

Well I was supposed to be having mushroom pies and a pear salad. It was portabella mushrooms with cheese and bread crumbs in a puffed pastry dough. So my husband brings me home sheets of phyllo dough... and then tells me that they're just like puffed pastry dough, in fact they're better than puffed pastry dough. So I proceed to attempt to make dinner... and dinner isn't looking so well. The phyllo is ripping and isn't working well, and all the while my husband is standing there trying to convince me that it's "Looking great!"

So I make it and take it out of the oven, and again, it doesn't look nice. It looks like burnt paper with a mushroom cap inside. I am sooo depressed as I do tend to put a lot of pressure on myself to cook a decent meal every day. I just want to throw it out and order a pizza. BUT again my husband stands there convincing me that "It looks great!" so I plate everything and we go to eat.

Half of the phyllo isn't even cooked, and it's just an all around messy meal. All around my son's chair is flakes of this phyllo

Then my husband is sitting there going: "MMM wow, this is DELICIOUS!"

He was lying. I didn't finish mine, and my son didn't finish his, and my husband sat at the table going: "OH WOW! AMAZING!" and he made the effort and ate almost half and then claimed to be full.

So after he's finished I said: "Want to go get a pizza?" and without any hesitation he said: "Yea"

And that's my dinner fail. :D

Donne moi une poptart!

We went to see Avatar this afternoon (loved it!) and came home around dinner time so I did a quick freezer type of meal. I heated through two Jamaican meat patties, did some seasoned crispy fries in the oven, and steamed spinach. Quick, easy and tasty. Those Jamaican meat patties are really, really good! (bought them frozen at Costco).
