Cherel and I were waiting until after our wedding to apply for her SSN. We figured it would be easier than going back to the office to change to her married name.

Long story short... we did not get back to the office before her I-94 expired.

What's next people? What are our next steps? We have not filed the paperwork for AOS yet.

Thanks

Bob

It's not the end of the world. Don't worry! Just file for AOS and go from there. Since we wont get her greencard until after AOS is over then it's not really that big of a deal.

Hello Cherel and Bob...We have the same experienced about getting the SSN. The woman didn't give me SSN because my I-94 is already expired. I'm scared also on that time. We filed our AOS, then when I got my EAD Card, we went to SOCIAL SECURITY OFFICE and got my SSN. Don't worry everything will be fine.

GOOD LUCK...

GOD BLESS US MORE AND GOD BE WITH US ALL THE TIME..

You must no wait until after you receive the EAD or green card. Apply for all in her married name

Hi, it happend to me I applied after our marriage I have 1 month before my 1-94 expired but SSA did not honor it, they refuse my application and did not issue me a number. I went back in SSA office that time but they told me I can re-apply when I Adjust my Status already, if I got my EAD I can go back and re-apply So, last April just 2 weeks after our wedding we sent our AOS application. Just lst week of June my EAD arrived through mail so that`s the time I visit the Social Security office again, I re-apply and after just one week I got my Social security number in mail...

What you can do is file for AOS and wait for your EAD to be approved. When you get your EAD go visit SSA office and re-apply it`s so quick I just showed my passport, my EAD card and my marriage license.

Hope it helps. God Bless!
