Please, help!

My fiance bought a one-way ticket to come to U.S. and the agency where he bought it asked him whether it was legal to buy a one-way ticket on this type of visa.

Will he have any problem at the POE? Someone, please, share your experiance.

Yes you are fine roundtrip or one way if your coming in on your k-1

if the visa is issued as K1 i dont see any reason why he should purchase a round trip ticket. that's what we were planning to do, get him a one way ticket to the USA.... i dont have enough miles to purchase a rountrip for free but have enough for one way so im sticking with one way. :) so nice to know you and your hunny will be together soon...

I got a roundway ticket and was OK :)

K1

September 15 - 2005: NOA1

October: Waiting

November: Waiting

December: In Security checks

January 2006: Waiting

February: Waiting..Contacted Congress

March 4th: APPROVED

March 17th: NVC posted file to London

March 20th: London Receives file

March 29th: Receive package 3

April 13th: London Receives package

April 19th: Medical - June 13th: INTERVIEW......APPROVED!!!!

June 20th: ARRIVE IN USA

Time taken for whole process 9 Months

October: 13th: Sent off AOS Package

November 3rd: NOA1

November 14th: Snail mail ~ NOA1 ~ Case moved to the CSC for faster processing.

November 14th : CSC has petition for me and my daughter.

December 14th: Biometrics completed.

January 17th: APPROVED AOS!

January 22nd: Green card arrives in the mail:))

Time taken for AOS - 3.5 Months

Finished for 2 years.

I think it should be fine, bearing in mind that this visa is the first stage for him to get permanent residency in the United States.

2nd March 2006 - I-129F Sent

13th March 2006 - NOA1 & Cheque cashed

30th June 2006 - Received RFE re IMBRA

3rd July 2006 - Mailed RFE to CSC

4th July 2006 - Touched re RFE

5th July 2006 - Touched

18th July 2006 - Touched confirmed receipt for RFE. #######?! I know they received the RFE on 4th July!! Skanks!!!

17th August 2006 - NOA2 finally!!!

11th September 2006 - Package 3 sent to US Consulate (DS-230 part 1, DS-156, DS-156K)

8th October 2006 - Sent checklist to Consulate to confirm that all documents are available for interview

13th October 2006 - Medical (11:30am) - Friday 13th Aaaaaaaaaargh!!!

7th December 2006 - Interview at 10am

7th December 2006 - Consular requested "Proof of non-existence of birth certificate"

15th December 2006 - Courier picked up "Proof of non existence of birth certficate" - what I did? I contacted my lawyer in Vietnam and asked him to search for my NON-EXISTENCE birth certificate and had him write an affidavit of his finding. What a waste of time and money!!

22nd December 2006 - K1 Approved. Finally!

A lot of times a roundtrip ticket is cheaper...just go with what is cheaper.

Yea! Of course you can get one way!!! That is what you are there for!! To get married within 90 days~!! :dance:

The entire visa was granted in the first place based on the idea that you WOULD stay in the USA long enough to plan, and carry out and register a marriage. So, since most people wouldnt be able to tell you exactly the date which by everything would be planned and carried out, a round trip ticket probably must surprise the POE officer each time he sees one.

Im getting a one way and I know several ppl here who did that and had no problems - you are, after all, coming WITH intent to emigrate... and you have the correct visa so...should be fine :)

Applied for K1

Met online 2001 - just aquaintances

Sept 2002 - 1st US visit - everything goes perfectly.

Dec 20th - Forms recev'd at CSC

Dec 27th - NOA1 received by snail mail!

Dec 29th - 'Touched'

March 10 2006 - NOA2!

March 23 - recv'd at NVC

March 24 - petition sent to London

April 9th - Pkt 3 rec'd!

May 17th - Pkt 3 signed for at London Embassy

May 24th - Medical

May24th - Pkt 4

June 14th - Interview 10am - APPROVED 1pm!!

June 16th - Visas received in my hot little hands 1pm :)

July 19th - flying to US!

July 27th - Married!! :-)

Aug 7th - Applied for SSN in married name

Aug 9th - SSN received
