After waiting a month for our NOA1 my fiance finally called so see about the status of our application, and they have no record for it, so we are going to have to re-file :( He has also misplaced the paperwork that went with the money order so we have to fork over another $455 as well :crying: Hopefully the rest of the process will go smoothly for us !!

Does anyone know if there is any other way to track a US money order other than with the serial # on it?

Try phoneing the company you filed the money order with. They might be able to track it down via name. Other then the serial number I'm not sure though.

Uhm - before going through all that trouble - it might be prudent to wait a while longer.

Was there no tracking number for the package you sent in? Are you 100% certain the correct address was used?

May I suggest, if it's possible, that your fiance send a check instead of money order. That way, you can tell when they cash it and can get your receipt number from the back, once it's cashed.

Also, if something happens & USCIS denies receipt of the check, you have proof.

you filed May 16, wait a little longer... or call USCIS?

We did call USCIS and they said that our petition has not been received. I have not been able to get a lot of details from my fiance as he is in the army and out in the field right now. So any chance we have to chat is quite short. I will be finally seeing him next week, so hopefully we will be able to straigten things out either way!

what is the company of the money order? if they didn't receive it that means your mail could have been lost and USCIS never had the chance to cash the money order. if this is western union, call western union and have them track the money order with the control number. if it has not been cashed that means you don't have to pay the filing fee again. Also if your fience is in the amry and actively serving, your case can be expidited.

I'd hold off on refiling anything for just a bit longer - when you see your fiancé, find out some specifics (such as a possible tracking number for the mailing and/or the exact address sent to) - it is possible that the package was returned to him or the package was received but simply hasn't been assigned a case number (yet).

It is possible that where ever the Money Order was purchased from, has a record of the money order and its serial number - with this number, you could put a tracer on it - this takes time (more than a personal check would anyways).
