Hi,

We received our appointment letter today. The interview is scheduled for July 16th. I'm happy and nervous. I just hope that I read the directions very carefully and don't miss anything pertinent. We did DCF at the Jerusalem Embassy. I filed the petition April 3rd, so it took about 3 months, although they kept telling me it would take 6 months. I was emailing them all the time asking how much longer it would take. :)

Just hoping we don't have any trouble at the interview. I'm just so nervous about all the paperwork, and hoping I filled out everything correctly.

The main thing I'm worried about is about the I864. My dad is the joint sponsor and I don't have any ID from him, except a scan of his passport. I'm wondering if that will be sufficient, because I believe they want an "authentic proof of identification." Obviously he won't mail me his original passport, but what am I supposed to do. I'm here in Israel and he is in the US. What did everyone else do? I have my birth certificate with my dad's name on it.

Well, I'm just happy that we got the letter and now we have the interview to look forward to! I start school in August, so now we can go to the US together!

Hey thanks!

What are you guys doing exactly? How come you guys moved back to Israel during this process, doesn't that make things go slower? Which city do you live in? We're in Hod HaSharon. It looks like we got married around the same time, we are 11-26-08. :) Yes, I will let you know how it goes. We've already made an appointment for his medical examination. I hope things go well for you guys as well.

I agree with Txladykat. Just have your dad take his passport to have a photocopy of all the important pages made and notarized by an official notary public. Then he can express mail it to you. That should be enough, hopefully. I think they would understand him not wanting to mail his passport. I'm really nervous myself about mailing my packet thru the Turkish postal system with as much sensitive info. as all these forms have on them.
