So I just read what you said about contacting a congressman (or woman) about an 'unfair denial'. This is the first I have heard about something like this, and it could be quite useful in the future - hopefully not however. I've tried to approach the interview from every possible angle in order to increase the chances of a positive outcome - but you never know unfortunately! Yeah hopefully we wont have to wait that long, my boss is asking me every day at work when I'm leaving (thankfully he means it in a nice way!). Currently writing a letter to the embassy as advised :)

Letter to embassy:

"I have previously submitted my packet 3 including my checklist in order to obtain a k1 visa, but have yet to hear anything back. Due to unforseen circumstances we have had

to move our wedding date forward to August 13th 2009 and I will need to travel by August 1st. If it is at all possible, is there any chance that I would be able to request an interview for a date between July 10th and July 17th 2009? I understand that this is a limited time frame, but any assistance you can provide with this matter is greatly appreciated. If you have a cancellation available at any time previous to these particular dates, I would be much obliged if you could offer me an interview on one of these days.

I am fully prepared for the interview, with all the neccesary forms collected and my medical results passed on to you, please find enclosed an updated checklist for your records, and once again thank you for your cooperation and consideration regarding assisting me in meeting our deadlines.

Yours sincerely,

Sam Mills."

What do you think? Be as critical as you like because it really was just a quick letter, obviously I want it to be as good as possible! Thanks again for your help.

Sam.

Family and friends of ours had suggested to us to contact our congresswoman after not hearing back after sending in packet 3, we apparently found the blackhole in the embassies office, but then we'd sent off multiple packet 3's exactly 6 weeks apart (that's what were were told to do by the extortion line who kept telling me that our file wasn't there or hadn't been processed yet) from nov 07 all the way round to may 08, when it got to sending the last packet off Paul had already contacted our local congresswoman and she was faxing the top guy at the embassy in London to fax her back as soon as they'd received my paperwork, funny how they would tell me naff all on the phone but a few faxes from our congresswoman shifted them into gear, she knew my interview date as soon as they'd assigned it.

Getting your congress-person involved can help, for us we were waiting 10 months for our interview after our approval had been forwarded from the NVC. At the time she could find out a lot more than we could, we dont know weather she pushed for an earlier interview or not, but our interview was like most really anti-climatic and I'm not sure how many have never had the how did you meet etc questions at all, just the normal form questions "have you done this this or this.." Like I said our wait time was 10 months of us both going nuts missing each other and we only contacted our congresswoman out of the fact our timeline was way out of range for the time.

That's insane! 10months?! Well I'm glad to hear your congresswoman finally sorted it. We did contact the NJ member of conrgess, but got nothing back, at all. Any idea what you sent to them to get them moving?

I seem to remember Paul phoning the congresswoman's office and getting a fax number, I cant find the letter he wrote out but went along the lines of explaining our situation and how we'd gotten our approval notice on such and such date and received the packet at my address and I'd sent it off days later and never heard anything back, stating when we'd set out our wedding date and travel dates for, the usual thanking for help and any assistance on finding out what was going on at the embassy to hold us up would be appreciated. Two days later Paul got a letter back from our congresswoman telling us that she's inquired on our behalf and found that as of that time they hadn't received my packet 3 and asking us for the dates when I'd sent out the most recent copy of my packet 3. And if I could to send out another. As soon as I'd sent out another packet 3 and Paul had replied by fax she was already onto checking if they'd got the latest packet. I'd booked my medical for May 23rd and by the time I was off the phone organizing that, I got a call from Paul telling me that the Congresswoman had her receptionist phone him to tell us my interview was for a week after my medical.

You should be able to find the office address/number/fax number for your congress person by looking them up on this site and you can look up not just your local congress rep on there but senators too.. I learnt something new woo LOL. Anyway hope that helps, if you need to contact them just explain exactly what you applied for, when and dates of when forms/packets were sent off and when you hope to have your wedding/travel dates. I think that's about all she asked for info-wise. Huge hugs, hope you'll be on your way to the inteview in no time :star:

We've been waiting well over 8 weeks for an interview date and my fiance has called the DOS every day for the last few weeks and we're getting the same 'it's fine, just keep waiting' #######! Should we be worried at all that it's still not here? I know I put down the wedding date as September 24th so that's probably not helping things. Getting quite worried about all the little problems which could arise at the interview, I really can't wait until it's all over and done with and we haven't got to worry about this phase any more. Fed up of my job and general life here in England, and I obviously miss Samantha like crazy! Really is getting too much for me I have to be honest :( Oh well, rant over. Thanks for reading :)

The Sams'.

Hi - Mark sent his packet in to the Embassy 3 weeks ago on Friday, and DOS is still telling me over here that we're not even in the Embassy's system yet...so I feel your pain, to a certain degree. We were knuckleheads and didn't put anything into the "do you have concrete travel plans" question...we just left it blank because we weren't sure what to do...so I'm praying that they don't take that as a "we're happy to wait"!! We are planning an Oct 10th wedding, and I dare not send out invitations until Mark's got his interview date, so the longer this drags on, the worse the stress level gets.

Also - the last time I spoke with the DOS (which was Friday), I asked if it mattered whether we had put a date in the travel date area or not and she claimed that it has nothing to do with whether the paperwork gets processed faster. I'm sure they're probably trained to say that, but...I found it interesting.

When you sent in your packet, did you ever get anything back from the Embassy stating "yes, we got your packet"? We have not, which is what worries me. I've heard people say they don't send anything out, and I've heard people say they do...so I've really been stressing over it.

Take care,

Shelby (Vermont) & Mark (Huddersfield)

My only comment is to not put any dates which are not true....Maybe the wedding isn't moving up but you would like the "option" of leaving as soon as August 1st if your affairs are in order. Mention the date when you originally sent in the packet 3 response + Checklist.

Make sure your identifying info is in the header - including LND number.

Just to confirm: DOS has said that receipt for your packet 3 forms has been acknowledged, but just no interview?

K-1:

January 28, 2009: NOA1

June 4, 2009: Interview - APPROVED!!!

October 11, 2009: Wedding

AOS:

December 23, 2009: NOA1!

January 22, 2010: Bogus RFE corrected through congressional inquiry "EAD waiting on biometrics only" Read about it here.

March 15, 2010: AOS interview - RFE for I-693 vaccination supplement - CS signed part 6!

March 27, 2010: Green Card recieved

ROC:

March 1, 2012: Mailed ROC package

March 7, 2012: Tracking says "notice left"...after a phone call to post office.

More detailed time line in profile.

Yeah I'll be sure to change that to 'having the option' of August, I just wanted some sort of date in there! I will get Samantha to call up her congressperson asap and see if we can get anything more. In response to whether or not the embassy sent us a receipt, they did not - but the department of state said they have received our packet 3 and are currently processing it.

ealachan I feel your pain! I wish we hadn't put down September, we can't make any plans or anything for fear of something going wrong!

Yes I had my LND number and everything on the letter, I just didn't think it was a good idea to post it on a public forum! The only issue we have is I have no idea of the exact date we sent in packet 3, just a rough estimate... Would this be an issue do you think? Thanks for the replies.

The Sam's.

I'd use the date in your timeline if you updated that around the time you sent it off then it should be fairly accurate

Best of luck, this does seem a longer wait than normal

Ugghhh. the waiting sucks horribly!! I hated it. Especially the wait for the interview when all is said and done and you are just waiting for that one last "Ok Your In!".

Keep your chin up!

Hubby has been here 2 years and we are sending off our Release of Conditions to get his 10 yr greencard. I guess that takes even longer! But yes, probably easier to wait when your love is by your side (although lots of frustration, "Have you checked the mail yet??" "can you give HS a call?" etc etc...) lol

I hope it will be an 'okay you're in' because it's going to destroy me if it isn't! :( I just posted a huge topic elsewhere if you don't mind having a quick read through that for me, really just looking for some more help there! We spoke to the DOS today and they said they need more info about one question, and that the embassy would contact me about it. I hope they do! Really don't know where to go at the moment! Thanks for the reply.

Sam.
