Got a letter a few days ago scheduling my AOS interview for 7/28/2009. I am very worried and nervous. My wife and I do not have a joint bank account because she owes her bank money and they wouldn't let her add me. We got a letter from the bank manager stating that was the case. We have photos, phone records, letters from family stating that our marriage is legit, etc. We are just worried becuase of all the horror stories. Anyone know how often cases get denied? Any other advice before this interview? We don't have kids together but she has kids from a previous relationship, will immigration want to speak with her kids?

There are more success stories than there are horror stories. ...cases get denied mostly when they (the couple) are not legitimate. If you're legitimate you should be just fine.

Relax.... well... my cousin went to his wife's interview a weeks ago.

What is really going to help you is a life insurance in which if she dies you are the beneficiary and if you die are.

you also should open a Costco account or something like that. and each of you guys are going to get a card.

proof common residence is also very important.

if you don't have anything like that what also help is two sworn affidavits from people that are related to you and her.

good luck.

You don't need joint bank accounts specifically. My husband and I didn't have any joint bank accounts at AOS, and we did fine. What else do you have that shows both of your names, or both of you at the same address? Lease, mortgage, credit cards, insurance, joint memberships to things all can work. You have to figure out what makes your marriage unique to the two of you. Photos are great, we brought 3 albums to our interview and the IO looked at all of them. He also made a point to mention the affidavits we had, so I think you are on the right track there too. I think at interview, they do a lot to read your body language, and the ways you interact as a couple. If your marriage truly is legit, you should have no problems. Good luck! :D
